If your ST1300 hand brake looks this:-

You need the A9 version.
Which from what I can work out the A9 is for 2008 models onwards. These models have the black in fill panel just below the riders seat on each side. The left side panel is surrounding the rear suspension adjustment.

I use mine quite a bit, very useful and very easy to fit.  Great if one wants to stop and take a quick foto on a sloping road verge . .  Also around the garage when working on the bike . .

Oh, and very handy when towing the trailer . . . No not when on the move . . When stopped on a slope. Just a bit more insurance . .

It's a cunningly designed device that locks the front brake lever in the "braking" or "on" position, and is released with a gentle pull of the brake lever.  The Pendle Brake is a very handy device, which I find myself using more and more.

The Parking Brake arrived today which means it took just over a working week to get here.......well done Royal Mail.

I've installed it on my ST, but ran into a couple of small problems doing so;
   the first being there wasn't any clearance between the locking pin and the brake handle, so I slipped one of the three supplied washers in between the
Parking Brake body and the brake handle which gave me enough distance between both but this brought out the second problem;
   as I mentioned I had to use a washer to give the pin enough clearance so I was left with very little thread on the end of the new Shoulder Screw.

This didn't give me enough thread to utilise the locknut so I used the M6 nut. I held the new Shoulder Screw firm with an Allen Key while I used a spanner on the M6 nut,
which meant it neither turned the lot nor tightened the Shoulder Screw too much. Ideally I'd be better off with a thinner nut and will source one in the coming days.

I have a pretty steep driveway which was an ideal test for it and it passed with flying colours  ++

It's been suggested the brake handle may have been bent due to a fall or drop which could be the reason for the lack of clearance for the pin on the Pendle, so I'll buy a new handle and see if that makes a difference.

Looking closely I can see marks on the edge of the right mirror so the poor old girl may have taken a tumble at some stage before I got her.

I wrote to Tony Worrall who suggested I file the pin down a bit but I'm a bit wary about that so will explore the new handle idea first.

Mine just arrived.
A splendid piece of machining.  I'll fit it this weekend.
How good is this?  We have fabricators of useful farkles popping up everywhere, from Young Abe to ST2UP's mate, Tony in UK, Gatey's aux tank and I'm sure there's more to be mentioned, apart from the excellent USA MCL items.  Every one of them built to precision standards befitting the ST!

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Yesterday had me getting a new front tyre, when i showed my mechanic the Pendle and what I thought should be done.
He took it off the ST, removing the washer too, over to his work bench, where he used a Dremel type grinder and ran a groove from front to back in line with the 4mm hole (which I bored a little deeper),
said "try this before you go getting a new handle",

and now it works like a charm  :like
