FarRide West 31
« on: October 24, 2016, 09:20:04 PM »
Mal & I Left met up at 5.00am where I got my start fuel docket

Temp around 9c on Sat morn the ride up was fairly uneventful 1st stop was at Geraldton by then it was about 29c a quick fuel stop & removal of a few layers saw us continue on to Kalbarri. Temp at Kalbarri was 35c & this was to pretty much the temp all the way home.

Had lunch caught up with Gavo had the photo shoot then turn around for the home leg

Stopped again at Gero for fuel

A couple of stops along the way for hydration passed a guy doing some charity thing towing a boat with a GoldWing.
Bugs were bad the last 100kms had my visor up coz I couldn't see thru it.

Made it home rather tired just after 7.00pm 1190kms 14hrs even got lunch in must say I think I'm getting old the heat got to me & I was knackered on Sunday made sure the wife kept up a good supply of liquid nourishment all day  ;-*

Well done on the ride.  The heat certainly adds to the fatigue levels.  One reason I like riding at night.
Very wise to top up the vital fluids, even after the ride.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

There was certainly a good turnout of STs. Of the 16 bikes, 5 of them were ST1300s.

As was said above, it was a pretty warm Saturday. I left Midvale with my brother @ 12:30pm Friday and rode to Mt Magnet for tea. Then 60km west towards Yalgoo to camp for the night. Finishing off the FarRide by lunchtime Saturday.

We then relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. 5 of us stayed overnight at Kalbarri.

Had a very pleasant ride down the Indian Ocean Drive on Sunday morning on the return trip.
