Title: Garden Art
Post by: StinkyPete on January 29, 2017, 07:15:14 PM
I saw one of these in a local garden shop, so I had a scrounge through my junk for a spade, a hammer head and some washers.    This is the result, which I quite like.

(I can't work out why the image does not display the right way up..)

++.  Good find.  With all of the toys in your shed this would be easy for you

Good idea. Do a great job of trimming your fingernails.  I always get worried when I use grinders of any description.

Just for fun, here's another piece of what is classified as "Garden Art".   My dragonfly is made from a coach bolt, some nuts, and four butter knife blades.
This kind of stuff is a lot of fun when it turns out right.  I've previously copied stuff, but this was an original design.  :thumbsup

Neat welding and good concept.
The disk set up is very useful for fine work.  I use a belt sander with a sanding disk to do similar jobs but yours is great for fine cutting.

With this GARDEN ART stuff, I reckon it's important to easily identify the components, but also to be able to easily recognize what they are representing in the finished object.

Now there's an interesting philosophy.  It's meant to appeal to everyone- the "deconstructionists" among us, the arty-folk and those who like something quirky for their garden.

Here's another, made from a car coil spring and a tap.  It's just a bit of fun.

That's all very well...but how does your family now butter their toast and....why does your car lean on one side eh? :OldMan
Chris
(Seriously..nice work there..could never do that with my welding skills...I would actually get a better result welding by glueing the welding rods on the joint! :cuss)

Why not?  Spring is just around the corner.

It would be great to have water running out of it in a solar powered fountain.

Nup.  They have to conserve every bit of green energy they can in SA.     :p

My Door Stop

I needed a door stop, so this is what I came up with.   It's an old elastic side boot from the local Vinnies, filled with concrete and fitted with a manila rope loop handle.
It works a treat and I reckon it's a lovely rustic looking piece.

Concrete boots...    :crazy
You don't happen to have ties with the Griffith Mafia, by any chance?

On the subject of home-made doorstops, this one came from a Cessna 185 propeller that crashed in PNG (no, not me this time).

It holds my shed door open, and the top handle makes for easy handle- ing.

I had some spare time and some spare bits and pieces, so here's an adornment for my chook shed that I knocked up today.

P.S.   I wish my RDL seat would hurry up and get back from the USA soon.......   :well

I'd say the matter is urgent if you've resorted to making labels for your out-buildings out of horse shoes to pass the time.    :grin
