Title: Replacement Front Brake Lever
Post by: ruSTynutz on August 15, 2019, 11:16:44 PM
When I bought my ST1300 the front brake lever was a bit bent...nothing major but it was annoying...and made braking a little less precise...
Anyhow, after checking the price of a genuine Honda lever which, if I remember correctly was something like $90, I decided to buy one of these: (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/For-Honda-St-1300-3-Pan-European-Front-Brake-Lever-Alloy-2003/122191605046?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649)

A bargain at a third of the price...  :thumbsup

I managed to bend the brake lever on a friends bike recently so replaced it with a new one as I thought it unlikely to be able to successfully straighten it.
Anyway I kept the old one and was surprised to find out a few days ago that I was able to straighten it and now its like new.

That's interesting to know, cravenhaven...did you have to heat it up or anything?

I had thought about trying to straighten it but didn't want to be "stranded" if it snapped...

I didnt heat it. I just held it in the vice and gently straightened it by moving it a centimetre or so after each attempt, so that no single spot had too much 're-bending'. I looked at it closely afterwards and could see no fractures or stress marks.

I might give it a go...nothing to lose, I guess... :thumbsup
