Scrubbed in the new tyres on the Eildon Jamieson road. They're sensational.  They tip in waaaay faster than the Michelin's. Almost like they start tipping into a corner without you thinking about it. Let's hope they last.

Zero vibes in the bars now. The old tyres should probably have been rebalanced half way through their life.

After the oil change the gear shifts are soo much smoother. Engine is also purring like a kitten.

Hi team - tried to do this today and just want to point out that there is an adjustment rod between the gear shift linkage arm and the gear shifter. There is no need to take the bolt out of the spindle even. All you need is a 10mm spanner. Loosten the lock nut at each end and turn the adjustment rod. It raises and lowers the gear shifter.

A trick is to wait until you have to remove the oil filter as the top of the adjustment rod is behind it. I'd just replaced mine as I'd just done an oil change. Made it take an hour instead of 2 minutes.

If you adjust the spigot on the spindle more than 2 splines, you will run into clearance issues on the gear shifter as it changes the angle of the gear shifter. Use the adjustment rod instead!

The adjustment rod is highlighted in the photo with an arrow. Leave the splines alone!

That didn't prevent announcing a date this time last year.

Hmmm.... not sure what you mean

I don't think what I said was that complexed.  If the powers that be wanted to hold it in march a date should have been chosen by march of the previous year.

Hmmm.... not sure what you mean, the 2024 NatRally was not announced until Jul 2023.

This is how it panned out - at the end of May 2023, a proposal was put (by Victoria) to Head Office to hold the 2024 NatRally.  The go ahead was provided in Jun 2023, then there was a lot of behind the scenes work (to ensure Victoria could tick all of the boxes), then the dates and location were announced to all members in July 2023 - about 9 months notice.

Putting it off to later (to provide more notice) had problems, there was a hold on the High Country Holiday Park cabins and sites for this current weekend, then Easter and Victorian school holidays (probably other state and territories too), then there's a long, long weekend (heavy bookings at HCHP) after ANZAC Day, which all leads us to May - already usually cold and unfavourable weather, even worse Jun to Sep.

Further delay to after winter would not align with a Head Office request to move the NatRally back to March, as that period seems to gain more traction with members than Oct / Nov.

It is clear that the bike can barely cope with the combination of load, work and heat.  The road is scarred and ripped to rubble.  It's like following the track of some stumbling monster of destruction.  Halfway up a particularly hard climb, I lose momentum and the bike simply dies on me.  I don't know what's happened, what to do.  I wait awhile and kick it over.  It starts and revs up fine in neutral, but when I engage the clutch it dies on me again.  I am quite near the top of the hill, and I unload the heaviest boxes and carry them up myself.  Then I ride the bike up, and load again.  The plugs and timing are O.K.  What else can I do but cross my fingers, and try to keep up momentum.
