What are you listening to now?
« on: October 12, 2019, 11:18:15 AM »
I've pulled out one of my old U2 bootlegs (from the era before they turned to garbage) and had it on this morning.  It's an unoffical release from 1984 or 1985 of a live show in Rotterdam.

The Beat, aka The British Beat, The English Beat and Special Beat

I never knew they were called The English Beat in the US until I saw this episode of Bands Reunited.  To me they were always just The Beat.

It was The Best in the UK, English Beat in the US and British Beat here, but was interchangeable with the Beat.

On another note, my favorite episode of the Bands Reunited series was The Alarm.  I was big fan of them too.

Nowhere near as cool as the above But ..... this afternoon we ran up a bit of Daryl Braithwaite.  When my daughter was an 8month old we filmed a video of her bopping along to ‘Rise’.  Now her daughter is 5 months old so we thought we would see how she responded.  We did get a bit of a head jiggle but I’d say there is more to come....

I have a bit of an audiophile interest going on at my place, and recently I built myself a set of unusual looking speakers and a DSP+ 6-channel Class-D amplifier that’s sounds better than anything else I’ve owned before.  Any like-minders out there?
A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.

I'm currently cranking this up.

Not really related to anything (and this is the alcohol talking) but I really love this High-Lows song.  The unofficial video makes it even more special.

I've been cranking out The Alarm today.  The best band to come out of Wales.

Thanks Bodø, you've encouraged me to break out some music, something I haven't done for a while..  :thumbs

Thought I'd listen to a bit of "Steppenwolf"

https://youtu.be/egMWlD3fLJ8

Then I moved on to "Arlo Guthrie"

I've been pulling out some old vinyl for a few weeks now and now doubt will again later today.  For the moment though, I am going to look at a bit more footage from last years Tasmania trip.  I'm currently making my way to Wilson's Promonotory so haven't even hit the island yet.

I am too lazy to choose my own tracks so when in signal range listen 1080 6IX Perth's golden oldie station:-

http://eu7.fastcast4u.com/proxy/radio6ix?mp=/stream6ix.mp3

When out of range just a mix of my cds on usb stick.

edit:- Saturday morning there is too much talk and not enough music for me but put up with it instead of changing station.

Quite contrary to my usual listening selection, I have recently been tuning in to FM "ABC Classics" if I am looking for music while travelling.

When you start listening to the ABC, that's a sign of old age, Pete!  :nahnah

I confess, I listen to the ABC when I go to bed, it sends me to sleep...

One of the things from Japan that I really miss is yūsen (cable radio).
