A friend put his bike on Bike Sales last month and three people contacted him with the same oil rig story, all with different names. Must be a popular scam. Good luck with selling the bike.

So how does that scam work?  Do they want you to deliver the 'bird to an oil rig?

 :eek

And you said you were selling your Sports Tourer.  That would have been the ST.  Turns out you're selling
the serious Sport bike.  Whew!  Thought you'd lost the plot!   :o

When I'm sitting on a bike capable of 300km/h, which gets over 300km to a tank I consider that sports touring.
Some people may call it hyper-touring, others may just call 000.  :rofl
The ST1300 (to me) is a comfortable all day tourer that feels a bit sporty.
Either way I'm keeping the ST because it's so much easier to pillion on.  :thumbs

They tell you they will pay by paypal and will have their agent pick up the bike. Then they contact you and tell you that their agent won't pick up the bike until the agents fee of $2000 has been paid and they are unable to pay it from the oil rig as it must be paid western union and the rig doesn't have that facility. So they want you to forward the $2000 via western union to their agent and they will add the $2000 on to the price of the bike. Then you will receive an email from paypal telling you that the full price of the bike plus the $2000 has been paid in full but they won't release the funds to you until you pay the agents fee. Then you will get an email from the agent to say he is waiting for his fee so he can pick up the bike for his client. The email from paypal and from the agent look "almost legit" but it's not really difficult to pick that they're not. I can understand some poor buggers being sucked in.........they're a pack of bastards. I made a point of finding out how they operate by stringing them along but I knew all along what they were about. I finished up by telling them to $#% ^#%@#*

I had the same scam when I tried to sell my Blackbird, they even asked if I would forward the bike and they would pay more. I said ok so put the money in by B pay and we will sort out the rest once the money went through. They only wanted to put it through Western Unoin money order and needed my details. You have too be careful of these type of  :cuss :spank :spank :spank

Had a similar scam trying to sell a cage a couple of years ago that some bloke as buying my car as a graduation present for his son in South Africa and wanted to pick up car and send to south Africa.  Even sent check from another failed purchase worth $5000 more an the car and asked to simply forward the remaining funds to him via Western Union.  Thankfully the "Minister" works in the bank so she rang ahead a and got an idea on the check so we didn't get slugged with the dishonor fee from presenting the check.  Gave legitimate addresses in London etc, only used Hotmail accounts.  When I told him I worked for the Queen  :cop also here in Queensland the emails stopped and never replied again.   :rofl

Hey Rendog, just had a look at the bike on Trading Post.....................now....if only it had of been black!! :)

Just kidding.........I love these bikes, and would love to have one sitting in my stable, but it's expensive to pay rego and insurance on two bikes when you can only ride one at a time :crazy............unless you can afford to do so, of course!! ::)

Nice bike, but for me.......it would have to be "black" :)

Yeah Couch, maybe I should sell it as a Bluebird   :crackup
I ride this one to work & back everyday, but now I'm in Town(sville), it hardly seems appropriate for the 12min ride  :'(
Something smaller is called for, an upright sporty or a cruiser ???   :think1

I know a few people who are very happy with their 'birds, one of them especially is very hard to catch up and down mountains.

Good luck with the sale, at 55000km you've barely run it in ;)
