Who's got a funky little side stand pad for soft ground, that stows easy and holds up a ST1300 on damp grass?

Ebay? Website store?

Not sure how good it is though.

I do carry two plates, one in the fairing and another in the trailer and I use anything else that might be laying around like coke cans, rocks etc that I can leave behind. When Heather is with me it's not a problem for her to pick up my plate if I use it, however, on my own it can be an issue.

Take note my 1100 sunk about 25mm into the bitumen on a hot day, not sure how much it takes for the bike to tip over either.

I use a flatten (end on) drink can. It works fine. I scrounged it out of a nearby bin and produced it (ie squashed it with my boot) in-situ when I was stuck one time. I keep it in my glove box. Someone suggested using an old CD on the forum a while back. I tried one then two and both cracked. I went back to the good ole drink can.

At the Motorcycle Expo at Gloucester on the weekend I saw a Goldwing with the sidestand resting on a piece of aluminium checkerplate about 100 x 100 and attached to the clutch lever by a length of stretchy plastic curly cord (you know, like disc locks sometimes have attached) so the rider couldn't easily ride off and leave it behind.

Methinks that wasn't a bad idea.

I use the small rectangle of alloy checker plate that I 'rescued' from the bin at a sheet metal workshop. The string idea has merit too.

There used to be a thing called a mudbug, but havent seen them for a while. I use a lump of Ally plate with a dayglo cord looped around the handle bar. its chean n easy.

Hey Diesel.........I keep a 90 x 140mm block of wood 20mm thick in the right hand fairing pocket. Attached to the block is a length of thin stretch rope, about 3mm thick. If I'm on soft ground it's just a matter of hanging on to one end of the stretch rope and dropping the block, then move it into place with my left foot. I have a small loop on the end of the rope I'm hanging on to, and I just slip that over my left hand grip. When leaving, just stand up the bike, take the loop off the hand grip and pull up the wooden block, wind the rope around the block, drop in into the right fairing pocket.........and away ya go!! Too simple but it works well for me!! :)

I have a block like that, about 20mm thick. It's dual purpose because if I run the back wheel up on it on a hard surface, I can get the heffalump onto its centre stand without blowing a hernia.

I tried to pass it off as the new ST1800 at last Saturday nights meeting but even those frail infirm and near sighted folks struggled with that one . So I'm sure the sharp shooters in this lil group would be on to me in a flash...... Might take the focus off Barry's ST with a lotta BMW farkles.
I am however looking forward to the challenge of adopting my riding skills to the new schWING ( google schwing Wayne's world) cheers ORSM

Some years ago, I attended a Breakfast Torque (as a trader) sponsored by the Sutherland Shire (on the southern side of Sydney), and each rider was presented with a side stand thing(?). It's made of plastic, about 4 mm thick and 85mm in diameter:

It works well on soft ground, as that's all there is where their venue is/was held.

I have a soft plastic one that fits nicely in the fron pocket beside the 2way radio. it's bright red so you can't easily miss it when you leave but i also tie it to the bike with a cord. This lets me drop it onto the ground whilst still on the bike allowing me to maneuvre it under the side stand before getting off and then i can get back on and pick it up via the cord before i ride off. It was $5 from the Redlands Ulysses quatermaster and i think they still carry them.
