Oxford make a sidestand puck with a magnet in the centre of it.

Mine's attached to a tank bra strap as on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/61443001@N08/7772331400/#in/set-72157631045398204) with a length of cord and stows in the fairing pocket.

When the ground looks a bit iffy, from the seat I can just dangle the puck and it will locate itself properly on the sidestand base and when I'm back on the bike to ride away I just  retrieve it with the cord, then stow and go. Cheap too!

Try this one Diesel...

I have done the same as TOURA and it has never failed me.  If you go to an engineering shop and ask for a bit of scrap you will get it for nothing.  Mine is about 3mm thick and stores on the tank bag like TOURA shows and it is great.  When it is tethered to the tank bag it doesn't matter if somebody is with you or not.  The retractable cord also ensures you don't have cord hanging out annoying you.  He may be crazy, but has a great idea every now and then.

Gidday Tack,

I could be wrong, but I think that's one of Thommo's (from up your way) creations.

Me thinks he made it for Toura.

Cheers!

Diesel,  Make one yourself.  Cut a piece of aluminium checkerplate to a size that will fit in your right side glovebox, and tie a piece of chord on it.     If you stop in soft ground you can get it out before you put the stand down, drop it to the ground while holding the end of the chord, and kick it into place with your foot, and attach the other end of the chord to your left bar end.   When you leave, pull it up using the string and stick it back in the glovebox.

This is what I use. Simple and it works. Its just a plastic pad say 120 circle with one of them springy cords on it that you put over the end of your handlebars. That way when you get on your bike you just take the cord off and into the left pocket of the bike it goes :thumb
But crushed cans work real good too
