Title: VFR Spotted in Town Tonight.
Post by: alans1100 on May 03, 2016, 07:53:36 PM
I went down to the café to buy fish and chips for tea and saw a bike parked in front of the shops. As I rode past I noticed it was one of the VFR models. After parking the my bike I walked back and had a look. Nothing on the bike to suggest the actual VFR model but I guessed either 800 or 1200. The owner was walking back from the supermarket and 1200 was the one.

Told him the bike looked better in the flesh than in the photos I'd seen but I said that about the 1600 Beemer as well. He bought the bike new and due to a leg injury sometime ago he opted for the DCT version. It was either this bike or something like a Burgman Scooter with 1200 DCT a better option.

The top and side cases were part of a special no cost offer that Honda had on the bike at time of sale with the side cases located in our local caravan park for the rider's overnight stop.

It seems the bike just manages 300km before reserve light comes on and the owner sees the small tank being the down side.

We had a similar experience in Bowen a couple of weeks back, we were sitting in the pub and a bloke comes up to us to ask who was riding the ST? this chap owned a red ST1300 and reckoned he didn't often see any others in town.
Reminds me of an earlier time when a mate & I were fuelling up in Camooweal the local copper & a couple of good ol boys with beers in hand wondered out of the pub to check us out! :blu13

Having seen the VFR 800 Barry had, I think they look good. The small tank and lack of electric screen though.

But you're sort of half right. Only 1500 people here and most grew up with each other; especially the over 40s age group.
