Piet:
I recently purchased from Shaun his rear rim & Metzeler tyre 160/70-17.  My ST had had an Avon Storm2 that was destryed and emergency replaced with a Metzeler Z8 160/60-17.  Good tyre but I preferred the original size.  So needing a 160/60 for my CB400SF it was time to take the 160/60 off the ST and fit it to the CB400 and fit Shauns complete wheel to my ST.

Shauns tyre had a slow leak that started to be felt after a weeks riding and I am not sure why but the tyre I took off and fitted to the CB400 had a faster leak on the bead seal.  Having both bikes with slow leaks was a right royal pain in the proverbial.  So time to try a slime type product.

I purchased a 1 litre bottle of Preventaflat.  http://preventaflat.com and inserted 250 mills in each tyre.  Fixed both leaks instantly.  Its the first time I have used this kind of product, it worked a treat.

Interestingly I have been using my pushbike pump to pump up the tyres.  For the new Michelin Commander II I fitted after removeing the Metzeler Z8, I thought I would need to go to the servo in the car but decided to try the bike hand pump.  A couple of heftly thumps with the rubber hammer on the tread as I rotated it round gave sufficient seal to pump it up with no issue at all.  Spurred on, I tried the same with the Metzeler 160/60 on the CB400 and it worked just the same.  So managed some exercise and got the job done on both tyres.

You must be a champion with the bike pump!!  That's a huge volume of air needed to get it up to 290 kPa!

Not sure what sort of bicycle pump Piet has, but with my Beto pump, I can easily get 120psi ~ 830kPa into my bicycle tyres.   No doubt a bit more effort would be required for the ST's tyres.

I wonder where this threads going? :grin................................................................................ :wht11

We've got the tyres sealed, now we've got to get the air into them.     :p
