It's obvious the guy had no idea. As mentioned above his arms were locked and he was looking exactly where he was going to end up. His head wasn't upright and he wasn't looking through the corner. Wanker reaped what he sowed.

In the slo-mo he kinda cartwheeled down the road which saved him sliding and getting far worse road rash.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

i noted in the video comments the ute did stop as the collision cause the right rear to puncture......
Do you think the thought of being filmed by his mate played a part in his actions?

I would hazard a guess and say "Yes" - too fast for his level of experience.

I acknowledge hardworking Australians no matter who they are or where they come from. All those who have contributed to this wonderful country deserve an equal share of gratitude for their contributions. To single any group of individuals out for special homage only denigrates the rest of us.

I reckon that being filmed by his mate was a contributing factor. It made him show off and accelerating in a curve like that, it took him by surprise that the bike did not react as he intended. If he had known to counter steer correctly he could have corrected his trajectory before impact.

I think these things can happen also to young unexperienced dudes  when they ride in a group and have to prove themselves without having the techniques to support their moves. He was a lucky bastard though, considering wearing a tee-shirt......as long as he learnt his lesson!

Dunno about counter steering, just shut the throttle would have saved him.   :o
