Hi Billj,

What state are you in, that may have a bearing on the oil to use. General 20 W 50 works well, I use a Diesel rated Penrite HPR 20W50 Extra 10  and a Repco ROF135 filter. Its cheaper than oil and filters from Honda.

There are many threads on oil in here.

I use the Diesel rated oil, because it can take more punishmnet than bike rated oil. I change the oil every 12 - 20000 Ks. The oil lasts well, performance hasnt changed and the bike is just short of 170000 Ks.

The 10-30 is ok and again it depends on where you live and the range of temps you have where you live.

I usually use Castrol Activ 4T 15W-50 which covers -5C to plus 40C temps and change oil/filter every 12,000 or so.

There's a few filters that will fit and I've mentioned a few in this "how to" over here http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=12169.msg1225448#msg1225448
