ABS Disk Rotors

(1/2) > >>

basadia:
Bugger, ordered a set of after marked disk rotors off Epray for my 02 Ex Police ST1100 and found when I tried to fit them that they are for the ABS model which are smaller (296 mm) against the non ABS ones (316 mm). Now I am stuck with a set of disks that don't fit my bike and need to purchase the correct ones. Any of you ABS owners due for a set of disk rotors? Happy to post at same cost I bought them ($160).

The reason I am changing them is that I got my own ones machined as they were glazed and one of the rotors warped, now at slow speeds I get a clicking noise from the rotor that is warped as the pads bumps the warped face of the rotor and I get a pulsing from the front breaks.

Cheers

Keith

After having a look around there does not seem to be any consensus, some list the ABS and non ABS models using the same rotors. I am confused, can anyone shed some light on why some rotors are 296 and others are 316?
Also here is the listing I bought my set from:

I can't seem to find anything related to disc rotor diameter between front and rear but the rear rotor is thicker than the front.

After checking the part numbers between my 99 A model, a 2000 model and your P model the ABS ones are different. Not sure how they can advertise them as being the same.

When I cleaned my bike the last week (waste of time as it rained next day.........lol) I noticed no apparent wear on my disc rotors after 144,000kms

The pre 96 ABS models were quite different to 96 on ABS.  The standard models has been the same all the way through.  The police models use the pre 96 ABS forks, not the standard forks, which can matter for spring replacements and some other parts.

Yep I'm hearing you about replacement parts on my ex police bike I lost one of the front guard retaining bolts. I have ordered just about everyone I could find in the ST1100 catalogue but could not find one to fit, I ended up making something up (a bolt with a rounded off nut) to fit.
