Farkle Mounting Options

Anyone found a solution to the mounting bracket when you have Oxford heated grips and McCruise control? If you have a look at the attached photo both use the top bolt on the clutch reservoir and I'm not sure of a better way to have both mounted.
The only option I've come up with is making a new bracket with offset bolts on the Oxford switch but there is a bit of work in making up a new bracket especially when I'd like it to look somewhat factory fitted.

I'd weld a bit of flat onto the side of the oxford bracket, flush the joint and drill two new holes.   With a bit of careful welding you could fill the two original holes, flush them off, and paint the "new" bracket black.   If done well, it would not look makeshift.  If you aren't confident, post it me and I'll do it for you.

Another alternative would be to get some sheet stainless and cut it to the new dimensions.

I'd think the best option would be to make a new bracket as I don't have the equipment to weld it up. Stainless from memory is not easy to work with as it is very hard but would give the best finish and be very durable.

I agree.   For a small bracket, stainless can be easily cut with a hacksaw, and drilled with nice sharp drill bits.    See  http://ozstoc.com/index.php?topic=10745.msg1197742#msg1197742   for the new SS bracket I made for my Spot.

How do you find having your GPS mounted in that spot? The old Aldi GPS I got with my bike was mounted there and it was a PITA getting the key in and out.

I've utilised the Oxford bracket for my tunes and just grabbed a strip of Stainless ,cut,shaped,drilled a couple of hole and sprayed satin black where needed....Cheers Brian

The key is a bit awkward, but I've become accustomed to it.   I like to keep my line of vision clear and don't like to have stuff intruding above the dash.

That's the PTT (Press To Talk) button to use with uhf radio that would normally sit in cradle on the right bar

I just moved the grip heater control to the throttle side, just used the mount plate that came with the grips, but had to bend it on existing bend line but back the other way . . I'll take a foto tomorrow . . bike in bowels of very cold garage.

You'll see what bend is required when you move the control . . it was easy to bend and move as the leads were long enough to just reroute to the throttle side.  Because one is not constantly changing the heater setting, having it on the throttle side is no big problem, especially as you have cruise control.
