police bike right side switch block
« on: July 29, 2014, 08:24:55 AM »
 :law
Someone pointed out to me that a switch block from a Honda CB (possibly) 1000 is a easy swap for the complex police switch block.  There is apparantly a connestor down near the tank that is a direct & compatible connection.
Anybody done this?  I suspect the CB switch may be a lot cheaper than the ST 1300 std switch block.
Any clues anybody.
Cheers,
Mick.

No idea Mick.

As long as it sits on the bar and plugs in ok, all should be good. Of course, if the plug is wrong, it can always be changed. I may even have one on hand.

This is the ST300

http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/Motorcycle/2009/ST1300%20A/SWITCH%20%2B%20CABLE/parts.html Cost $US51 plus $44 = $US96 at todays rates makes this one a $AUD102 to your door.

There are two part numbers for both LH and RH switch blocks which suggests a change in supplier. Bluecity Motorcycles (Mount Gambier) gives 35013-MCS-L02 as the current part number for the RH cost new about $103 plus postage.

This is a CB1000 type

http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/Motorcycle/2012/CB1000R+AC/SWITCH+%2B+CABLE+%2B+MIRROR/parts.html

Not even close though it is cheaper. Sometimes the same parts are used on more than one model but the part would have the same number

Had to change links.........put CBR one up but the look the same.

Thanks Allan, I would prefer to stick with the ST bits, even though the cost might be a bit higher.  At least I will know it will fit.  However, I might regret losing the headlight switch one day.  Will follow your info up.
Thanks Brock, you are a bundle of knowledge as usual.  Now get back to work, and get off the bloody net.
Cheers,
Mick.

:thumbs I actually went to my local Honda shop prepared with the PN info, they gave it to me for $100 flat.  much the same as importing it etc.  Boy, was it fun fitting it, fairing off, air box out to de rig the throttle cables.  4 hours later she was all up and running, and I am a happy camper now that that big ugly switch block, with all those unusable switches have gone to the big bin.  Thanks to those who passed on the feedback.
Cheers,
Mick.

I find it hard to believe that owners don't find a use for these switches - they're great. The only one I'm not using is the headlight switch, currently.

:-++ Ahhhhh, I really had no use for the switches.  My sat nav and MC cruise are hard wired in and I dont have any other gizzmos attached.
except the running light kit, which is wired into the indicators.   I found the head light switch handy to kill the head lights once when i was stuffing around with IGN On for a lengthy period of time.  Otherwise, the lights are on always.
What are you running through the switches on your beast?
Cheers,
Mick.
