Gday guys I only had my Bike a short time and been on a few rides but after about 30 min I got one hell of a barby going wow my bike gets hot and so do my chestys. The tank were it meets the seat is almost untouchable wow its hot and also near my feet and ankles. I am sure there is a fix or a good reason this is happening.

A sheepskin seat cover keeps the heat away from the seat/tank split.
Highway pegs are great when you're not in traffic.
But on a 35^o day there is no escaping the heat in traffic.
It seems some STs are cooler than others. Some people have lined their fairing with heat shield aluminium.

Lots of posts about this problem on both this forum and the St-owners forum in the US. I dont think anyone has a "solution" as it just the way the ST1300 is designed, but basically you either cover the tank with a tank cover or you can fiddle around putting insulation between the tank and the air box.

Not sure what year your bike is, but I read somewhere that 2008 onward had better insulation and improved air flow from under the bodywork to get rid of the heat. Biggles has mentioned that a sheepskin seat cover helps, as it provides a decent seal between the seat and the tank, preventing hot air leaking up and onto the jewels.

My Bike is 2003 in Silver got the fury Kiwi on the leather but still tends to warm up the chestys just the same i look at putting some heat shield insulation there in the coming weeks

Heat Issue Modifications by Year
2004 - Added metal heat shielding over headers in lower cowl, and vent holes in tip-over wing covers to help clear the hot air.
2008 - Covers were added to voids in frame below side covers.

I don't find the heat to be an issue with my 2008, but I know some ST owners find it to be a significant problem. Cutting holes in the underside of your existing covers, to match the pattern of holes on the 2004+ models, may make a small difference. I don't believe that there are the necessary lugs on the frame to allow fitting of the 2008 void covers to the earlier bikes.

Gday all well today I thought I would have a go at putting on some heat shield under the seat and happy to say after a 1 hour ride it made a big difference still warm but not at least it is a improvement. I added a pic of what I done sofar cost is $57

Just add NUTS and it should work out but the real reason was more off us would look at a heading title with chestys then Balls or family Jewels. I call it marketing lol

Its all good as a Newbi I am hoping to improve on my forum skills in the near future planing also that my future posts are a little more accurate and less disappointing

I notice today in the parts fiche for the 1100 they have a rubber mat that fits in the valley
You do need to remove carbs to fit and I would suggest that you a new set of rubber joiners
to replace the brittle ones. by the way its actually a very simple job.
this may help with the heat problem as it is designed for that purpose.

Except Crocman has a 1300, so probably wont fit..

as the motors are very similar no doubt it could be modified
but then again there is probably one for the 13,
I havnt looked at the 1300's fiche.
ya never know.

its all good news everyone my chestys are no longer sitting on the BBQ plate seems that small mode has done the trick very happy with the results and so are my chestys thanks to everyone for the support and advice.
