Corona cruise. Sick of vegetating at home, so I hit the road around 7.30 this morning.
Home again just before 5pm ... drizzled rain all morning and some of this afternoon, but had the wetgear on, so was not fussed about the weather. Only about 2mm all up for the day, just enough to keep the road wet.
Had a rest break for around 40 minutes at Bolac on the way to Ararat this morning, under shelter from a more vigorous shower of rain.
Whole trip was a casual cruising speed, 85 / 95 kph for the day. Not much traffic, but then I only travelled on a main highway from Ararat through Great Western and Stawell, but turned off before Horsham and hit the the lesser roads again.
I did pause for an iced coffee at Terang, and again at the Big Koala, and then again at Casterton.
Found a couple with a broken down car on a narrow side road to Dartmoor, about 25 Km south west of Casterton.
They didn't have a phone, so I loaned them mine to call a friend to come and tow them back to Casterton.
They wanted to give me $20 for assisting!!
I told him no, as my calls are free anyway, and I enjoyed the short break and the chat with them until his friend arrived 45 minutes later.
Not a single car came by while we chatted, road is not used much.
I have their address, and have been assured that I am welcome to drop by for a coffee anytime I am in the area.
I pulled into the servo and topped the tank again when I got home. Had about half a litre left, just over 607 km on the trip meter for the day. Had 4 litres of fuel in the side panniers as back up 'just in case', but didn't need it.
Damn, but it felt good to be out on the road again!
