Title: final drive O rings
Post by: AliSTair on October 27, 2015, 05:29:37 PM
Hi all,

does anyone know where to source these locally?  I have checked out this place http://www.carolinabikeandtrike.com/ORings.htm (http://www.carolinabikeandtrike.com/ORings.htm) but the postage is more than the Orings.  I was wondering if anyone knew of an Australian supplier, or whether I could just take the 3x Oring specs to a local bearing supplies place to get some ? (and if so, what are the relevant specs?)

I figure I will wait until I have a set of these on-hand before I remove the rear wheel to inspect the splines!

Cheers

Al

Local Dealer is a good place.......cost me $16.70 back in April for the three of them posted to my door as it's cheaper to than riding over 130 km to get them.

Thanks, I will check it out....depending on prices I might still consider a bulk buy through the US..If I decide to go ahead with that I will post on here to pass the opportunity on to others.

I cant find any reference to ST parts or compoennts in the drop-down boxes on their website...do you just deal with them over the phone?

If you mean from Blue City Motorcycles then you need to do the search from the LH search window. Select brand, year, model then parts list.

Initial search as in the first picture then if you need another parts list then you can select from the search window above the parts list.

Items 23 and 24 from the rear wheel and item 37 form the final drive will give you the three o rings. Make sure that the thrust washer (item 7 from rear wheel) is not missing from your when you pull it apart.

that works...for some reaon there are no ST's listed for 1994.  I will just order some for a 1993 or '95 model instead.

just to report back, ordered 2 x sets of Orings from Blue City Motorcycles..had to order them for a 1993 bike as there were no STs listed for 1994.  Order arrived swiftly and got around to removing rear wheel a couple of weekends ago and cleaning/regreasing splines with moly paste and replacing Orings...old ones looked to be fine, but I swapped them out anyway.

the bloke on Youtube took about 15 minutes for all this, I spent a good 3hrs as I undid the wrong brake caliper retaining bolt in the first 3 minutes...reviewed instructions and fixed my mistake and carried on..!  Still, next time it will be 2 hrs, then 1 hr...
Slowly building confidence to tackle basic maintenance on the bike...

According to the 1100 paint codes Australia we got 1990 (L) Silver, 1993 (P) red, 1994 (R) Blue and 1995 (S) Red (AS) Blue). would be interesting to find out what model code is on the frame under your seat. The 10th character in your VIN is also the year code
