I've been carting around a bike cover that takes up 1/3 of the topbox. Mrs Biggles looks in askance at the space it occupies imagining how many more changes of clothes she could fit in there! :fp
Has anyone had experience with a chrome rack on the top of their topbox? :think1

Rex has something similar on his 'wing.
I had an earlier "rack", a coupla fancy cupboard handles picked-up from Bunnings. Did the trick, but when something purpose made came-up on eBay or Gumtree, or the like, I changed over. Pity the holes didn't line-up, but a couple bung hole plugs hides 'em well.

Why not just leave the bike cover home?
I just put the cover in the car.

I have a small rack on my topbox, I think it is a Givi, I think that Shiney also has one on his bike.
I use it to mainly carry a bike cover attached with ocky straps.
I added a sheet of clear protective vinyl sheet on top of the box under the rack to stop any chaffing of the paintwork if anything were to come lose and flap onto the top box.
It all seems to work well.

Not sure how putting it in the car is relevant, but you might be onto something. At this stage I haven't had to use it, and in any case, I dread having it get wet and then getting it rolled up as tightly as it is now. :||||
I do worry a bit about the increase in the height of the weight- we all know it's best down low.
When we've been off on a day-trip with the luggage left in the room I've been amazed at how much better the bike handles.
And that's apart from the fact you have full handlebar movement without the tankbag.

Fair enough. The boot of our car is taken over by reusable shopping bags and the back seat is dominated by child seats. :||||

I have a very inexpensive bike cover which fits in the left pie warmer. It costs about $12 (or $15 - it might have gone up) from Cheap as Chips. The only issue I've had is the first one blew away in Preston Vic. on a particularly windy night (they don't have ties in the middle) but it was at least 6 years old, so I can't complain. At home, Scarlett is always locked away in a garage.

That's the old top box from my bike and the rack certainly came in handy for me.
I used to tie the tent bag or self inflating mattress roll to it, or on Black Dog Rides, Winston would be anchored there.

I must admit, I usually just use my sheepskin seat raincover to provide me with a dry ride next morning, not too worried about the rest of the bike getting wet, in fact the rain softens the bugs making them easier to wash/wipe off the next morning.

I found the bike conver stopped the windscreen icing up overnight in winter.

I just look over the top of the screen and it usually de-ices quickly enough once on the move or in the sun.
