They are all interchangeable as in being the same size but there are five shocks but the difference I think would have to do with spring and or rebound rates

Early 1100s had 52400-MT3-611 and looks rebuildable

Early Police (and ABS up to 94 which we didn't get) have 52400-MY3-781 and as above look rebuildable

From 95 the 1100s have this one 52400-MAJ-G01

From 95 all the Police and the 1100AS (95 was our first ABS year) have this one 52400-MAJ-G11. ABS components and the extra police gear add a little extra weight.

From 1996 or 1100AT we get the 5th shock 52400-MAJ-G41. I guess inline with the upgraded brakes and the addition of the combined brakes.

The aftermarket shocks tend be one size fits all

hey Big Gaz,

Where are you looking to buy a second hand one from? Any particular reason for a second hand one as opposed to a new one?

Thanks for the reply Spanner .
The bottom line is that in order to fullfill my want to ride at the earliest and most cost-effective way was second hand . Managed to pick up one for a great price of 2003 getting broken down .
Works perfectly and hundreds of dollars cheaper than a after market shock.
Hope to catch up with you in Tazzie next  year
Cheers

I bought one of these a few years ago to replace an aging OEM shock. https://www.progressivesuspension.com/product/1426/465-series-shock (https://www.progressivesuspension.com/product/1426/465-series-shock)

Almost set and forget. Standard ride height set at the factory and for two up I adjusted it another two or three turns and haven't touched it since.

OEM shock from here would be the cheapest option https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/52400-MAJ-G41 (https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/52400-MAJ-G41)

If you wanted some really good stuff then maybe https://store.suspensionshop.org/honda/st-1100.html (https://store.suspensionshop.org/honda/st-1100.html)
