Title: Returning member
Post by: Elderberos on December 22, 2021, 03:06:57 PM
Hi all, a few years ago I bought an ST100 and fate allowed me to keep her a year or so before the bank manager intervened. I did get to enjoy one trip to Beverly (I think) with some of you, before I had to sell her on. Now I've just bought a ST1300. Pretty tidy and shiny with only 20k on the clock. Ive been in utter delight and will look forward to a run with you lot in future. Meanwhile - and here's a trap for young players I didn't lock the top box properly yesterday and it went skidding along the road. No structural damage but sure could use a paint job. Also gratitude that there wasn't a car up my ass. So if any of you are handy with the paint (or know someone who is) please let me know. She's black. ps .. so I dont like quite such a dick .. the only other bike I owned with a top box had it cleverly bolted on. Yes, I should have knowN the bike better before such a disaster .. but to be honest I haven't been able to stop riding it.

Jack

Hi Jack and welcome back.  Our own "John g" does great motorcycle panel and paint work, but being in Port Elliot, (70km south of Adelaide) may be a problem for you.   I had a top box lid painted by a crash repairer for around $200, so you may wish to get a quote from your local crashie.

Dont worry, you arent the first to lose a top box, some have even managed to eject a pannier...

I think you may be in WA, so keep an Eye open for one of our RTEs (Alfreds in Midland is popular)

Yep- I've shed the left pannier into a ditch and the topbox of another ST into another ditch.  It's easy to double check the attachment, so I shouldn't eject the RH pannier...
