Title: What Year Was your ST1100 manufactured in.
Post by: alans1100 on January 28, 2015, 08:42:34 PM
Lets see what year models members own.
If you have an early or late one also post what month it was made in.
The compliance plate is on the steering column with the month and year at the top.

Are you also able to compare the year of manufacture to the year code in the VIN (10th digit only) or the model code on the frame under the seat? I've included the year code next to the respective year. Please comment below if your year of manufacture is different to you model code.

This is mine for reference....... mine month/year is 6/99, 10th digit from VIN is an X for 1999 and ST1100AX from under the seat (X for 1999)

I had a quandary when I insured it, VIN says 2000, rego papers say 2002, I went with the VIN as an assessor would see that and not the papers.

06/03  ST1100OY

The fastest colour

Brock, is the 06/03 from the compliance plate or the month/year of first registration on the rego papers as the "Y" from your model suggests model year 2000

That makes it a 2000 or model year code Y.....in SA we only use month/year of manufacture on the rego papers and not year M/Y of first registration.

Just to muddy up the waters, date of complience was 09/04. First registered to Ipswich police QLD 02/05 out of service 04/07 with 47k on the clock. Chassis is a Y which makes the chassis made in 2000, which is correct. Engine and frame not put together till later which then gives it the complience date. I have the service records from the police, together with a aluminium key fob that has the bikes service number and original reg number whilst in service with the Police. Code under seat ST1100PY. Colour/code. NH138. Bit of nostalgia/history for some.......... :wht11

From the compliance plate, no idea when first rego'd, that info isnt on WA rego papers.  It made hassles getting insurance, as their databases say 2002 was the last year ST1100s were made, no allowance for police models.

That's interesting because under the vehicle standards for compliance it's the manufacture who puts the compliance plate on once type approval has been given. For the 1100 that would either be in 1989 or early 1990 before it can be sold. Out of interest is the ADR approval number on your police model the same as mine shown in the picture. Also note mine is an A (ABS) and it still shows 1100 on the plate.

Hi Alan, ID plate identical with numbers, ADR8443. Comp date stamped same place as yours just before the VIN. The approval was 1989.. Just goes to show that even the Japanese at some stage didn't know what was going on?. Does the paint code match ?..Regards Nigel :wht11

I can't participate in the pole because my compliance plate date is 09/04 is not on the options list.  Mine must have been on of the last made.

If the location is similar to a 1300 take a look on the frame under the seat. My guess it will have a label ST1100PY if so built in 2000.
