Guys,
Temporary thread for WA people interested in a group buy.
Post in here what you are after, and what sort of date you want to take delivery and I'll organise the rest.
Cheers,
Brad

Hi Brad,
I've been watching the posts with interest.
How much in quantity are you thinking about?
How much per litre?
:blu13
-
Hi there Malcolm, I've probably like to get at least 20 litres on it's way at a time, so 4 people getting 5 litres each, trying to keep it to multiples of 20. Just thinking 4 x 5 litre packs per carton (or20 litre pails) keeps transport economical
-
Brad,
Put me down for the PM412LA 5ltrs.
If 3 others in the Perth area want the same, I will order the case, and pay for it. I will collect on delivery.
On second thought, I have just sent an email to arrange a carton of the stuff. :thumbs :thumbsup
I will do an oil and filter change after I get back from Thailand. :rofl :crackup :beer
-
Hi Brock
Put me down for 5ltrs of PM412LA :grin
:blk13

Done,
Two bottles to go :thumb

Make that three i like the wear check :thumbs
-
OK, thats me , Mitch and Gavo. One bottle left
-
Put me down for the forth one? :thumb
-
Done,
Now to get the order in.
:thumbsup

Hi guys thank you very much for the interest.
Firstly, I am happy to mix viscosities in the box, it doesn't all have to be the one oil, it's mostly to use the space in the box for transport cost effectiveness.
Now for your bikes, I would prefer to see higher viscosities used. Particularly in high heat, PM412 SAE15w40 or even PM403 SAE 20w50 (20w50 would clean up notchy gearchanges more) would be more suitable. If you are currently running 10w40, or if you want to run a full synthetic, then PM421LA would do the job. I have a lot of faith in that oil but my belief is it's just not the right one for the job.
I'm happy to supply the synthetic, but just want to make sure I am helping you guys make the best choice.
Brad

If it were my bike, I would probably opt for the 20w50, taking into account ambient heat.
-
I was tossing that up in my head, If the other guys let me know what they decide, I will firm up the order.
I will change to the 403. Will this include the oil testing ( tho it may take a while before it can be done) it would be interesting to see what it says about the engines/transmission. and do wee supply the sample bottles (not a problem I can get some at work)
So far it will be 1 x 403 and 3 to be decided.
Thanks for all the effort, who knows, if you can sell us a bunch of oil then the next beer will come out of your Xmas bonus. :grin :grin
-
I currently run with 10 w 30 in a 1100 But I am keen to try PM403 SAE 20w50 for a smoother gear change no clunk.
I thought Brock, you worked at the air base not at a Pathology clinic for the sample bottles?
-
Oil sample bottles, we take ( or the sumpies do) samples of the engine oil to test for bearing wear. In a high speed turbine engine its a little important to keep an eye on things.
OK thats nor 2 for the 403, now to hear from mitch and Gavo and the order will go in.
-
PM 403 for me thanks. :thumbsup
:blk13
-
3 x 403 Done.
-
Sounds good guys.
Brock- I can supply a few sample pots- for cost and ease of use I just use sample bottles from the chemist. Remind me and I will throw a few into the box if that's easier than getting your hands on a few. All oils include testing, so at any time feel free to send a sample through. Sounds like you are used to getting oil analysis- this will be a graded pass/ fail test carried out on dielectric machinery, which we use as a first on site test, the results of which guide whether analysis is required.
Johnoj is that an early ST1100, or later (2001 on) ST1100a? Either way coming from that ultra light viscosity you will see vastly improved gearchanges and quieter motor. It will be interesting to see how your fuel economy goes, I expect to see it improve but going from the ultra thin to a 20w50 may see no improvement or slightly less k's per tank, if you know your bike really well and how many k's you get for what sort of run to see how your economy goes, but there is no doubt she will be a much nicer machine to ride. Please keep me posted!

early 1100p :wht11

Perfect
-
Ok make that 4 x 403 :thumb
-
Cool, I will contact Brad soon.
-
Sample bottles x 4 obtained, I will put one with each oil bottle.

Ok guys, I have been in touch with Brock, it looks like I can get an order off to you guys very soon. Just awaiting confirmation that a funds transfer has been made, and everything looks as it should do.
I am absorbing the cost of delivery to WA. So you have only the cost of the product itself. Cost per 5 litre bottle PM403 = $64. Quoted carton cost $256.
Watch this space, I will update everyone as to the status of the order and when to expect to be able to pick it up from Brock.
PLEASE let me know STRAIGHT AWAY if I have made a mistake with either the order, or if you cannot pick it up from Brock. WA is a long way to go to fix a mistake once it gets there!! Also I would like your feedback, good bad or indifferent. My mobile number below if need be.
Cheers,
Brad

No problem, I'm happy to get orders away asap. In all honestly I doubt I would be there, I just have so much on at the moment though it would have been good to catch up with everyone.
-
Hi Gents - for those that have put the PM403 in their wheels, what's the verdict so far?
-
I have had no problems, it seems to be working quite well.
