Back on The Saddle
« on: April 08, 2012, 05:36:33 PM »
Hello Everyone,
One very happy "returned" biker here. I live in a southern suburb of Sydney (Illawong). I'm 49 and last rode at the age of 23 when the wife to be said, "sell those bikes so we get the deposit on the house and you can get one again once things settle down". Well kids have come and they're now almost fully grown, so I hinted, hinted again, then pushed a little more and am now the proud father of a 1992 Red ST1100. I can see a few short rides coming up to get used to the new wheels then might extend to a few overnighters. Talk about Mid life crisis, I feel like a kid once again.
The photo is of me when i inspected the bike and used it as "look how happy I am" material to show the wife and get the final OK.

Welcome back to sanity, bro.

By the way, what photo?
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Welcome, I'm sure you'll have a great time on the bike.  Since it's been a long while since your last ride, it might be worth looking in to some training - advanced motorcycling type of thing.  It might help you to get the most out of your bike and enjoy it even more!

Thanks for the good wishes and advice everyone. I will be looking at a rider course to blast some cobwebs off sort-of-speak as I also  believe it unwise to have a pillon for a little while still.
Thanks
Ruben

G'day Rubencan - thanks for signing up. You will get your free membership's worth of fun and info back pretty quickly around here. You have also stumbled on a great group of folks who like regular rides to eat and socialise.

Enjoy, and thanks for the intro.

Cheers, Diesel

Welcome Ruben,
Glad to see you pick the "fast" colour. BlueHeeler and I are trying to organise a "meet and greet" ride for the Sydney region OZSTOCers some time in the not too distant future so we will keep you in the loop.
Cheers
