It's unlikely that we will have had our booster shot by then, so this one is off the calendar for us at this point.

Is a booster shot required for this venue?  :eek

If so I won't have it either.  I don't think I am eligible for a booster until march.

I'm quite sure that no booster will be required by the venue (I haven't checked) but am guessing that Langers and Julie are acting out of an abundance of caution.    I must admit that I am suffering from "Covid Reluctance" and am avoiding crowds and unnecessary places, and will make a late call about going to this RTE.

I spent all of christmas long weekend at home and this weekend will also be at home for the same reason, but still intend to make this RTE (pending what happens between now and then).

There is also the 25% cap for indoor dining to consider.

I've been boosted, but am still wary of places. In limited experience, too many younger wait staff seem to think that having a mask over their mouth, but not their nose is compliant, or will remove it when talking to you.

Just back from visiting my father, with family who came over from Victoria, for his birthday. The aged care facility he's in is locked down due to an infection in the staff - no other cases as yet - but had to do a socially distant celebration outdoors in masks for him under the supervision of staff in full PPE. Not quite the 90th we'd all planned for.

We have not yet reached peak infection rate here in SA, that will be closer to the date of this ride. Given that, agree that we need to consider the situation and make a call closer to the date.

Pete is correct, it is only an abundance of caution. I don't "need" to attend and I wouldn't want to be one of those who will tie up a hospital bed because I hadn't had the booster that is available and I went to something I didn't "need" to go to. Each to his own. I'd probably feel more comfortable if we rode to a park or some such and self catered - at least we'd be mixing in a group of Covid aware souls.
Bodo, as of Tuesday you are eligible for the booster if you had your second shot 4 or more months ago.

It's unlikely that we will have had our booster shot by then, so this one is off the calendar for us at this point.

Mark, I booked Sandy's and mine at the chemist last Thursday, but yes, not until the 19th of Jan, so too late for this ride.

I wouldn't get to this one anyway as I have another commitment that day.

We have interest from...

StinkyPete
Bodo
John g
Shillas (perhaps)

I have not booked at the hotel yet, and do like John's idea of meeting in a park somewhere for a BYO picnic, so I will look into some options.   Caution over Covid spread may mean we cancel anyway in the days before the RTE, and we'll take advice from those who planned on going.

There's a nice picnic area adjacent to the Milang Jetty if we choose to go the picnic option.   It has toilets, shelter and a nearby bakery.

I'm pretty sure that's next to the park I went to when I did the Hills Sculpture trail last year.  The park is quite big, but it is also across the road from the caravan park.

In this Covid ravaged time, I seek the opinions of those who have expressed interest in this RTE.
Do we...     Go ahead at the Cape Jervois pub
                 BYO picnic at Milang
                 Cancel

My own preference is for a BYO picnic at the Milang waterfront.

Not keen on cancelling but shall be happy to go to either venue.  Hopefully the weather will be good if we picnic.

I'd love to ride the routes to & from Cape Jervis - one of the reasons it made the list.

While there is still a reasonable spread of Omicron around, I'm happy to go with Milang.

The 'Yesterdays Power' Event is on at Milang oval on both Saturday and Sunday, which might make the day more worthwhile, but will also make it more crowded. For those interested, the PS Oscar W will be there and running cruises.

That might sort of impact on keeping COVID potential contacts to a minimum.

It should still a lower risk than meeting and eating indoors, provided one is sensible.
