The 'Yesterdays Power' Event is on at Milang oval on both Saturday and Sunday, which might make the day more worthwhile, but will also make it more crowded. For those interested, the PS Oscar W will be there and running cruises.

Thanks Dragonstaff.   This will mean that the wharf area will be very crowded, so I suggest we choose another picnic area somewhere.   Any suggestions before I make an executive decision?  :grin

The Narrunga Jetty reserve could be an option, it has toilets, im not sure about other facilities but its a nice ride down there through the Fleurieu with a number of routes to choose from and one can do the loop of the peninsula back through Meningie and head home via the Fleurieu or the freeway.

Thanks Langers.  Narrunga Jetty Reserve does not look like it has tables when viewed via StreetView

Meningie waterfront might be a possibiity, as it has shade,  toilets, tables, and a bakery over the road.

Narrung does have a cement table and benches.it also has a shelter shed with some chairs inside, although it's not that big and you would have to share it with other people..I've stayed there a few times and found most people sit around there own campsite.its really a matter of luck if it's vacant .theres a few trees around for shade but you would have to bring a chair of your own.

I think anywhere you choose you're going to run the risk of someone beating you to it.  When picnic was first mentioned I envisioned sitting on the grass in an open space.

Need to check if the ferry is running - news recently that it is out of action  - seemed to indicate longer than the normal one day maintenance outage.

:runyay. Here's a suggestion.kahrin and myself will go down to Narrung on Friday night and set up our van ,which includes shade and chairs for everyone .We will cook a barbque lunch with various salads plus supply cold drinks and of course beer .Any special drinks people may have to bring themselves.a small fee to cover cost of supplies could be worked out later .somthing perhaps a little different but could be covid safer and a bit of fun  :beer

Hi John & Kahrin and thanks for the most generous offer, which we will greatfully accept.   I will amend the original post, and assume that 1230 at the Narrung Ferry Campground will suit you well.   SAturday's forecast is 25 perfect degrees.

And the ferry has re-opened after previous Transport Department advice last week that it was closed until further notice.

Home at around 5.00pm.   I had a great day, and at 300km it was by far my longest ride since I hurt my back in August.
Sincere thanks to John and Kahrin for hosting our BBQ/Picnic lunch. :grin
