Reminiscing
« on: March 01, 2024, 07:26:14 PM »
Browsing through my collection of old ARR magazines I came across this letter to the editor from non other than our very own STinkypete. Seems like you had the Bavarian bug even back then .

Hmmm, old bike magazines...I'm reminded of my collection living under the house. Hopefully the wildlife haven't eaten them all!  >:()

I might have to raise my on flag re. my article published in ARR:

I don't recall the copy, all my mags went free to a good home when we downsized, if anyone does come across it, please hang on to it.  Going by the dates it was between July and December 2015.

I was supposed to get the MOTUL Care Pack, it must've got lost in the mail.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

I'm not checking mine, my back couldn't handle it!
I really do hope my full set of Bike Australia mags haven't turned to mulch...  :think1

My old ARR mags weren't quite a full set (a couple missing over 10 or so years), but they were in good nick, kept dry in a downstairs cupboard.   After a number of posts on various Forums and Facebook Market Place, they finally went.

I would flick through them from time to time, find an interesting article worth a re-read, bring one or two upstairs, leave 'em on a coffee for a couple of weeks, which Helen was really happy about.  Downsizing made up my mind, Helen did too.

Buying bike magazines kept me poor....
I finally saw the light probably 10 years ago and haven't bought a mag since!  :grin

Oh, if I ever get around to sorting out my deceased brother's boxes that's taking up space in the garage I'll find quite a large collection of the "Green Horror" motorcycle newspapers...do you remember them?  :think1

Thanks for the little trip into the past JD.    I reckon that letter would have been written in around 2005-2006, and my mention of a Beemer was certainly a peep into the future.    My dearly departed Dad and I went to a bike show around that time, and I recall showing him an ST1300 on the Honda display, and describing it as my unobtainable dream bike.  There's been lots of water under the bridge, lots of struggles, lots of kilometers under the wheels, and lots of dreams fulfilled since then.
