Hi From NZ
« on: June 23, 2012, 09:16:01 PM »
Just got back home to the cooler climates of the North Island after completing a couple of laps through and around your fine country (27,193km in 7 weeks). I'm on a 2011 ST1300 ABS which I shipped across from NZ under Carnet in March. I think I saw a group of you guys heading out of Sydney on Sat 14 Apr as I was heading in from Bathurst way. Never seen so many ST's in one group on the road! I'd just about completed the 9,000km interior loop - Sydney, Snowy Mountains, Murray Valley, Dandenongs, Adelaide, Uluru, Mt Isa, Longreach, Sydney. The following Monday I was starting out on the exterior loop heading up the East Coast to ultimately follow Hwy 1 all the way around. (Is it just me or is all of your wildlife, particularly dingos, completely suicidal?)
I've ridden most of NZ on this bike - top of the north to bottom of the south - so if anyone's ever looking at coming over this way I'm always keen to catch up with other ST's.
PS: These days shipping bikes across the Tasman is the easiest thing.
Cheers
Rob

Yep, that was us.  The heading pic of bikes on the dam wall on this Forum was taken that same day as we headed back to Blackheath where we were having our inaugural OZSTOC Rally.  We did notice one lone ST headed the other direction!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

G'day Rob - thanks for posting - and welcome aboard.

Trust me - we live here and we're all flamin envious of your double lapper of Oz - sounded like a hoot.     :thumbs

By the way - our wildlife is trained to spot Kiwis and try and help thin the numbers! Problem is they treat US the same way - no respect I tell you.    :fp

The guys who regularly ride the outback and Nullabor will tell you of horses, camels, goats, pigs and cattle SLEEPING ON THE ROAD to soak up the last heat of the day!     :eek

Bugger that!

Glad you enjoyed yourself, and I'd personally love to take up your invite one day of a tour around your islands!     :thumb

Enjoy your time online with us Rob.

Cheers, Diesel
