Latest Addition
« on: January 18, 2013, 03:53:42 PM »
I just added a couple of LED Light Strips from AdMore Lighting in the US; and damm but they are bright!! Pics below.

and

They are connected to the side lights (which is what is showing in the pictures), the brake lights which are both sides lit at twice the brightness of the pictures, and the indicators when the side that is indicating flashes with the normal indicators.

The kit comes with Posi-tap connectors which are very quick and easy to use and all the connections are made under the pillion seat. The only hard bit was getting to the brake/side light wiring, which I did by going underneath the rego plate then running the two wires required up into the space under the rear seat.

Supplier details care;

www.admorelighting.com

Note the reflector pads from Peter, nice touch as I couldn't see them when I took the pictures, but they shone out under the camera flash. And before anyone says anything they are transparent in daylight so they can't be seen, and I don't care what colour they are at night as long as it helps the rest of the lunatics on the road see me!!!  :law

Can you see me now?????
Cheers,
Paul

Paul,
They really look bright, have you thought about connecting them to your brake lights instead?

Hi All,

First a reply to WA Glen, they are connected to the brake lights, in these pics they are at running lights intensity, but put the brakes on and they are twice as bright!! They are also connected to the indicators, the Red light bar on the side that has the indicators flashing flashes in sympathy. Which can be a problem...see below!!

Next, for those who pointed out that Mr Plod gets all bent out of shape when indicators are Red not Yellow, I disconnected the indicator function of the Red light bars, fitted two smaller supplementary Yellow bars and connected them to the indicators. Results below;

Bigger bars are RED, smaller bars are Yellow (Not yet lit)

Still clearly visible even against the sunlight outside.

Again.

And as it proved impossible to actually capture the dammed flashing yellow indicators in a still camera;

Sorry, taken on an iPhone as the video camera battery is flat!!  :eek

Other side.

...and both!

(Not sure what happened with the pics and then the video, but can't be bothered to sort it out, you get the idea!)

Lets hope they can see me now!!!

And last but least, I shamelessly plagiarised an idea I saw on TJ's bike. With the dash shelf fitted it is actually quite difficult to see the Indicator repeaters on the instrument pod, so I went to Jaycar, bought myself a handful of yellow LEDs, some resistors and some wire. I soldered one resistor to each LED, drilled a couple of holes next to the outer edge of each wing mirror and super-glued the LEDs in place, then connected them to the indicator lights on the end of each wing mirror. Hey presto, new indicator repeaters that are visible in everything except the brightest sunlight! Total cost, less that $5.00!!

First the left-hand Indicator, a small fumble, then the right-hand indicator!

Anyone wants to repeat this installation I can provide suppliers/costs etc. Just let me know.
Cheers,
Paul

Nice work Whizz. I have just this week bought some high intensity LED's for the mirrors as you have done and will be completing this mod in the next week. Love it.

Thanks guys, I'm happy with the mods, and they look good too!  :grin

RuSTy, I don't back in, I turn the bike round inside the garage. The cars are not allowed inside the garage unless it's about to hail or storm badly, the rest of the time it's reserved for the monSTer!  :thumbs

As per usual - AMAZING work at top quality level.  Enough said.    :clap
