Tassie Tour - 2014
« on: August 16, 2013, 09:34:21 PM »
I'm planning around two weeks riding in Tassie in March 2014 with some friends from http://austouring.com.  More details here http://austouring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4626

Not much planned as yet, but I have plotted some points of interest and localities I'd like to visit or re-visit.  These are shown on this Google Map: http://goo.gl/maps/e7ng3

I'm not sure of the route yet, I've lots more locations to list, but think all I've got to do is "join-the-dots" ...... if you know what I mean.

 o:)

If any OzSTOC members are interested in joining in for a day or three, or the full two weeks, or more, they would of course be welcome. :thumbsup
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

I plan to do a bit of touring after the Ballarat rally. Maybe Tassie - never been there. March should be pretty good weather wise, I imagine.

I've been to Tassie three times on the bike now.    All of the trips have been fantastic, and it doesn't matter where you go, it's spectacular riding.   I'm envious.

At this stage the only arrangements set are Thursday night 6 March at Lake Leake, Friday night 7 March in Hobart (Salmanca Place and James Squire Inn) and then back to Lake Leake for Saturday night 8 March and Sunday night 9 March.

The three days and nights before and after the above are not set.  It would be good to catch-up with a "local" for a few road tips.  If you are interested we can exchange a few PM's & SMS's closer to March.

Winston66,

Hi Williamson, Thank you for that notification, I was starting to wonder about the relevance of the dates and how things would plan out.
At this time I am thinking that I will be leaving Perth a couple of weeks before Ballarat
and then just taking my time on the way over.
It would be good to do a tour of Tassie after the National , I have never been there, and then after that ,if everything is good and if I feel up to it I would like to go north and around the top on my way home to W.A..
So I guess that now I will just sit back , do some planing, and see what pans out.
Cheers , Winston66

We are away from Mar 21 to Apr 11 next year with a group riding to Alice Springs and unfortunately going the wrong way for the Rally.  Laura and myself live in Hobart and if anyone is intererested in a bed for a couple of days, at any time, we can put a few people up. So before or after those dates more than happy to share the Tassie love.

..... riding to Alice Springs
Enjoy the ride.

We may still get to Alice in May next year for the Uylsses AGM.

Good to know.

But, there are six of us planning to ride from Lake Leake on the Friday, have a big night at the James Squire Tavern (or whatever its called these days - I hope it's still there), we want to be in walking distance to Salamanca Place.  We've got a few accommodation options, but have not settled on anything as yet.

Saturday Helen (Mrs W) and Karen (mate Andrew's wife) want to do the markets (Mmmmmm, must not leave too much space in the ST's boxes), and the rest of us will tag along.

And then in the AM (after market) period ride back to Lake Leake for the AusTouring "AGM".

Let me know if I need to book a bigger table.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Depending on youre dates, Laura and myself might just tag along and offer any assistance i.e. the art of drinking good beer and picking the cheapest red and drinking it like its $100 a bottle.
