Jaycar LED driving lights

I was with Lionel getting stuff and the 4" 3400 lumen LED driving lights are on a promotional deal at the moment, so for less than $200 you can get a pair. They also have a range of smaller lights on special as well.  The wiring that came in the kit was of decent quality compared to the real cheap stuff

Or how about these darlings:

6300 Lumen 6.5" Solid LED Driving Light , $418 a pair.
500 watt Halogen equivalent, 523 metre range.  Draw 6.6 amps each.     :grin

Combined spot/flood.

Not bad, Biggles but at more than twice the price of mine, you'd expect at least twice the lumens.
I want extra lights that I can leave on with low beam without blinding oncoming traffic.
They are mounted at the bottom of my front crash bars and pointed at 45 degrees to light up the roos waiting at the side of the road.

The Jaycar lights in 4" are much bigger than the Ericas, so the 6.5" must be massive.  But on a car the 6.5" look a pretty good bet.

Even though twice the price, they're still less than 2/3 the price of the Clearwater equivalent, and they cite the magical "Cree" referencing their LEDs.

I'd have them for the same reason- spotting the roos, and as with my current halogens, would be dipping them with the high beam.  Your idea of some low-mounted lights that can stay on with on-coming traffic is very good, provided the drivers (including truckies) don't misread the light signature and insist on your turning them off by blasting you with their light-sabres.

They're only 1/4" radius bigger than my current Narva 100 watt halogens, so would still fit on the brackets without touching the screen.

Mounting the 6.5" would be an issue, as way heavier and bigger than the Ericas. I did think about them but it was not practical to mount them. On the ST1100 with the police bracket they might be worth another look  :think1

In their specs they neglect to mention their weight, for some reason.
The 3486 Lumen IP68 Solid LED Spot Light at $198 for a pair might be only half the power (and 1/2 the price), but a lot less than half the weight and only 120 mm diameter.  One spot and one flood might be the go, but maybe added under the mirrors and keep the 100 watt Narva spots on top...    :think1

You may well have, but you didn't mention how heavy they are.  If they weren't so "thick" and heavy, I would still consider them.  They're literally to heavy for the Police brackets.

523m claim at .25 lumens, at 1 lumen as hella rates there lights it's only 232m from a 70 watt light can do better than that with a 55 watt halogen

Denali D2's from twisted throttle or adventuremoto.com.au fit this bill Lionel.  50% intensity on low that doesn't upset oncoming traffic and 100% intensity on high beam that does.  On my small bikes they are all I use but they are more for the use case you describe here.
