I was working at the blast furnace at the time. During tapping, radiated air temp was over 176 fah (80 cel) We were restricted to 4 minutes access to the casting floor, even with protective clothing and face and neck shields

Did my summer Uni holiday time at Newcastle BHP Plate and Bar Mill- the door would open and the bar would roll out.  Our job was to hook it with our metal rods and turn it onto the rollers that ran at right angles.
WPH&S!!  These days you wouldn't be allowed near it.
I do recall there was a lot of heat involved, but not like a pour would entail.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

13.01 it is 34 here in Alice.

Supposed to get to a nice cold 33 in Alice today with 80% chance of precipitation currently sitting on 28 at 0800 hrs.

Got your thermal gear handy?  :rofl

Light passing sprinkle of rain here at the moment..10.30 am and 17.3 degrees

I'll just do a Tony Abbott and go down to the budgy snugglers.

I've just discovered that the residents in my Worm Farm did not survive the heat wave.   Bugger!   :'(

I'm trying to think of how you could prevent that happening in the future. Normally spill is around 23 °C, so pet than bringing them in to the air conditioning, there must be another way to keep them cool. Hesian bags draped over and dampened perhaps with a trickle of water to keep them damp.
Cheers,
Gary

Could well be a little breezy for Christmas here.

From BOM:

Likelihood of a tropical cyclone in the Northern Region on:
Monday:    Low.
Tuesday:   Moderate.
Wednesday:  High.

Looking like forming in the Gulf of Carpentaria, then it just depends whether it decides to go east or west.....
