Darkwing
« on: June 25, 2023, 07:53:20 PM »
Introducing Darkwing my new ST1800 :grin

It's actually a new 2023 blacked out Goldwing DCT Tour Premium

It's pretty amazing, the most refined motorcycle I've ever ridden.
It's as smooth as silk and corners as well as the ST1300.

It's a 7 speed dual clutch automatic with 4 riding modes:

Tour: This is the standard mode for general use.

Economy: Softens the suspension, changes the fuel mapping and adjusts when gears will change to use less fuel.

Rain: Same as economy except traction control is increased to the maximum level.

Sport: The suspension is stiffened,  the fuel mapping is changed to produce maximum power and gearing is changed to stay in high revs with maximum power at all times.

If automatic isn't wanted at any time it can be swapped to manual mode, the paddle shift on the left handlebar can then be used for changing up or down gears.

It also has electric adjustable suspension with 4 settings:
Rider.
Rider with luggage.
Rider and Pillion.
Rider and Pillion with luggage.

Beyond this it has LED lights, indicators and lower DRL/fog lights.
Tyre pressure monitoring.
Amazing braking.
Cruise control,
Electrically adjustable windshield (like the ST1300).
Stereo system that runs radio or auxiliary through either a Bluetooth headset or the onboard front and rear speakers.
It runs Android Auto or Apple Carplay through the nice display on the dash between the gauges. This gives access to the phone, GPS and any other useful apps on the phone like Spotify music.
Heated hand grips and seats, including Pillion seat and backrest on the top box (the wife is very well looked after on this machine).

I'm sure there's lots of other stuff that I haven't come across yet but that's it so far. I only picked it up Friday evening.

Cheers
Shiney

Holy moly Shiney- you've out-shined yourself this time.  Firstly, congrats on winning the lottery!
What a pity it doesn't come in red or white!
Did you trade the ST?
Oh, and you forgot the airbag! And probably 20 other details.
Love it!

How could I forget the airbag :fp
Thanks Biggles :grin

I haven't sold the ST yet, one of the guys at work may be buying it :X
And it does come in red... it just has a LOT of chrome and I didn't want to have to clean it all ;-*

Thanks again mate

I was sitting on the lounge last night thinking, "Should I sell the Spyder and buy Shiney's ST?", then I got up to get a drink of water, and my right ankle said "No you shouldn't.".

Congratulations on your new ride.  It it wasn't for the bike's weight and the impact of the number of birthdays that I've had, I'd be a little envious.   Very Nice Indeed......    :thumbsup

Wow Shiney.  A very nice piece of machinery you've got there.  You do realise that this puts an end to your days of impersonating a motorcycle copper though?  Should have got a white one  :grin

The blacked-out engine and frame look really smart.

Looking forward to meeting Darkwing at an RTE.

Shiney,   I have heard it said that, compared to the ST1300, the 'Wing feels lighter and is easier to stand upright from resting on the side-stand.   What say you?
