Rode (and ferried) over for the Ulysses AGM held in Ulverstone in 2006. Did the night crossing and Shared a 4 berth cabin with some friends. All good, a good nights sleep.
Spent a week at the AGM, toured the North West of Tassie , Stanley (The Nut), Smithton, Burnie and around Devenport and Launceston.
After the AGM, rode South via some great mountain roads thru Cressy, Poatina, around The Great Lake, Bothwell, Bridgewater (not down the flat middle) to stay with friends near Huonville, used this as a base to go East to see places like Port Arthur and surrounds, South to Geeveston, Dover Southport, Bruny Island, Cygnet, Snug, Mt Wellington . . All great riding.
Left Huonville to go West to Hamilton, Derwent Bridge, Lake St Clair, Queenstown, Strahan . . Where we did a Harbour Cruise out to Hell's Gate, saw Salmon Farms, stopped for a tour of Sarah Island and then part way up the Gordon River . . A great cruise, thoroughly recommended.
On up thru Zeehan, Rosebery, Cradle Mtn, Dove Lake, Mole Creek, Sheffield and on to the Ferry at Devonport.
A great time, many things to see, some fantastic roads to ride.
Have been back a couple of times since, tried the day passage, cheaper but so boring and around lunch time was looking for a bench to lay on and nap . . Recommend the extra dollars to share a 2 or 4 berth cabin.
