Just a quick story from the past.

Army exercise down Gippsland many years ago. We had to camp for several nights in the Yarram area.
There were many ants on the ground, so I strung my hootchie about 4 feet above the ground, and slung my hammock from the same attachment points. At one stage of the night another digger came to call me to change guard duty with him, but as he couldn't see me, only the empty camping bed on the ground beneath, he walked away and ended up doing a double guard shift.  :rofl

Advice received from Kym at the Royal Standard Hotel .... We are capped at 50 in the bistro so you should be fine, yes everyone will need to provide proof of vaccination.

So ladies and gents, please comply with:
  • Be prepared to show your proof of vaccination.
  • To provide #1, you will need to be double vaxed.
  • QR code check-in procedures - not try and fake-it, like some joker tried at Moyhu (he is NOT invited to attend anymore RTE's).

Re. numbers, we have 20 already, but I think we'll be safe from exceeding the cap, as follows:
  • Nigel (1)
  • Debbie and Rex (2&3)
  • Russ and Sue (4&5)
  • JD and Chippy (6&7)
  • Helen and Michael (8&9)
  • ppopye (definite) & Chris (a maybe) (10&11)
  • Neil and Val (12&13)
  • Tony and Terina (14&15)
  • Denis and Diane (16&17)
  • Kev (18)
  • Richard and Ella (19&20)

Okay, there's a coupla if's, but's & maybe's above.  Numbers will go up and down, and to be fair to our hosts, let me know ASAP if your are dropping out, so as I can advise our hosts, and they may be able to add one or two to the bistro numbers.

Whew!!!!

Do they have manual check ins like South Australia (ie. a piece of paper where you write your details)?

Yes, but these have been gradually phased out and repaced with the QR code system.  Most venues still have a paper and pen, but these seem to be mainly for the elderly, low tech people without a smart 'phone.

Joker at Moyhu pretended to QR code check-in, when the lady publican (think she was alert to him) asked to check it, he said his 'phone wasn't working, she said that he should sign-in then.  After doing this he told us that when asked to sign in, he puts "Mickey Mouse" or "Donald Duck" and a wrong 'phone number.

I think Rex, Garry and Nigel heard what I said to him.  He's a BMW rider, so his intellect ..... no better not go there.

I don't do that, but often travel without a phone so use manual sign ins.

I have to do manual sign ins, because my phone is too old and not connected to the internet.

I refuse to allow the GOVT to FORCE me to buy a smart phone.

No one is forcing you, Kev...all businesses are required to provide pen/paper so people can manually sign in if needed...  :thumb

Yeah, a manual sign-in, in leiu of a QR code check-in, will suffice.  Or, someone can check you in as their 'guest' as they check-in.  I do this for my 98yo mum - smart 'phones and QR codes are a bit much for her.

But you will need to have your vaccination certificate, if that's not on a smart 'phone, a printed hard copy will suffice.  Although (thinking outside of the box), a copy on a laptop would be okay (if you have a laptop).

Re. a smart 'phone, these days I would feel naked without one.  In some respects, I congratulate you for being so independent.  But (there usually is a 'but', although this time not a big hairy butt), I think you will find that in the future, there will be more and more things smart 'phone and technology dependent.  I would encourage you to reconsider your current position.

Yeah, they're not cheap if your buying new or a late model, but many used ones can be picked-up very cheap, or sometimes for SFA.   When I busted mine on a trip, I got a secondhand one off Facebook Market Place for $50, swapped the SIM until I got my old 'phone repaired.  You could have that (for a coupla jars of jam), except that it's now with a "friend" who busted theirs (I don't think I'll ever see either of them again).

You never know, someone on here may have an old 'phone sitting in a drawer looking for a new home.

I quite often did that for Sue when we were out shopping but the guest option disappeared once I added my vaccination certificate to the QR check-in app.
Make sense I guess but it's a bit inconvenient...

I don't have any need for a smart phone, all I ever do is 'ring ring, Hullo?' type calls, maybe 5 per week, and a couple of SMS messages daily.
My phone rarely even leaves my desk, except if I am going out of town.

I get my second jab next Tuesday, and will get a hard copy of the results.

Yeah you can only have one per person as well, we tried to set it up for Father-in-Law to be connected to Mother-in-law's account and it wouldn't do it, we had to make a whole new email address for him on the phone we had to get him which he never uses

That is why I sometime envy you, I've almost become dependent on my iPhone .... Que Sera, Sera

... all I ever do is 'ring ring, Hullo?' type calls, maybe 5 per week, and a couple of SMS messages daily...

I think we're pretty tired of these attempted scams.

I get my second jab next Tuesday, and will get a hard copy of the results.

Good skills.
