« on: July 05, 2014, 03:40:51 PM »
Andrea and I are doing the full lap, on the ST1300, towing our trailer and am wondering if we'll see any of you blokes on the ride?

Any donations to support the cause will be welcome, so if you are interested, here is our link:

No worries, see you there.

There don't seem to be many STs, or trailers, on the ride, so it should be easy to find us on our Black ST1300 towing a trailer.

We switched from Sheepskin to Airhawk seat cushions a couple of years ago and notice an improvement in comfort. On many of my earlier bikes, I've had "Vista Cruise" throttle locks fitted to good effect, but on the ST, I'm fitting a proper "electronic cruise control". I've had the bike apart all weekend fitting the system and the wiring for the Garmin ZUMO. I still have to finish the connections to the battery before giving it a trial.

Regards
John

I was thinking when I looked at the beautiful black bike that you lacked a CC.  You will really appreciate it on the long legs.  It's just such a pleasure not to have to continually monitor the speed, quite apart from giving your right arm a rest.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

"MCCruise" Control fitted on weekend and function checks done last night. All checked items worked according to the instructions.

This is my throttle lock/ assist. I used it last year on the BDR to Alice Springs.
Not quite a cruise control, but works well and doesn't hurt the back pocket.  :blu13

The cruise control has now been successfully road tested. It has the sensitivity set on the default of 3 (range is 1 to 5) and feels a bit aggressive, but will most probably feel smoother once the bike is loaded and has the trailer attached.

I have the McCruise and I don't what sensitivity it is on (it was on the bike when I bought it), but it is as smooth as.  The only time I get a "surge" is when I hit Resume at about 0 to 10 km under the set speed.  It seems to loag for a bit and then throttle on to try to quickly bring it back to speed,  Now that I know it does that, I anticpate it and it doesn't bother me.

If the speed is below 10 it just slowly winds back up to cruise speed.

Something to watch fro is if you get someone working on the rear wheel for a tyre or servicing.  they have a tendency to bend the plate carrying the speed sensor back and the gap becomes to large.  If it is just large enough, it will cancel cruise when you hit a bump.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip.  :hatwave
Cheers,
Gary

Yes, Gary, there will be three rear tyre changes in the next few weeks, and I will be watching for this.
