My VW obsession.
« on: May 18, 2014, 10:24:09 PM »
One of my other obsessions is my VW's … pics from my collection. I have so much fun with these, still looking for a Karmann Ghia and a Panel Kombi '75 or later or Kombi Ute?

I've had a 6 volt and a 12 volt beetle in the past. When I met Heather I had a Kombi which served as our home while fruit picking in the Riverland.

Wow the pink and the chopped beetle are beatle-full! really fantastic... :beer

My first  car was a $200 smokin rustbucket vw 1961 1200 6v, ragtop that i restored myself from the age of 16-21, it was a great car to learn basic mechanics on!

My brother parked it at the train station "for a few weeks" while I was o/s and was surprised  :spank it was stolen, found years later in amazing condition in a paddock..... :-[

"Amazing condition"?  Stripped of engine, wheels and a great deal more!!     :eek

My first beastie (here we all go-)  :hijacked

was a 1940s Austin A40 with a sliding sunroof.  I put a few switches in the panel for driving lights (landing lights, we were told they were- sounded impressive).  The car was stolen from a street in Belmont NSW. I was shattered.  It turned up at the Belmont dump (hence the memory and relevance) and the only thing stolen was my little bank of toggle switches!
Ah the memories...  there's always more...
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
