Title: Fuel hose connecting upper and lower tank warning - ST1300...
Post by: Diesel on October 22, 2012, 08:50:44 AM
Here is another of those forgotten maintenance jobs that could lead to disaster if ignored.

The 5/8" fuel hose that connects the upper and lower fuel tanks on the 13 can become brittle and perished - worth an inspections sometime as it can dump 20 litres of petrol through your hot frame and exhaust system.

Not trying to scare anyone - but this is like inpsecting your brake pad wear - that's all.

A few people have reported this hose splitting when they lift the tanke for routine air filter maintenance.

Don't forget - the diameter of this hose changed in 2008 - so make sure you order the correct one.

The newer hose looks stronger, but of course can't be used on the earlier models.  Is there a space problem with just increasing the wall thickness of the earlier hose with the larger ID?
