Title: Blind Spot Mirrors
Post by: CallMeSteve on October 11, 2019, 01:40:41 PM: I was in at SCA yesterday for some of those convex stick-on mirrors. They had the ones that stick straight onto the main mirror (I've seen these a lot) but they also had these rather natty ones. These ones have the option of either sticking straight onto the mirror, or using the supplied swivel mount. Using the mount is cool because (a) it allows me to put the round mirror further into the corner thus obscuring a bit less of the main mirror and of course (b) I can set the round mirror exactly how I want it.

Mate, I rather like those. I'd been looking for something like that and figured that they didn't exist. Where did you get 'em from?

It took a while to find ones for the 1300 but I had to get some double side tape and remount the RH one because it fell off after a few weeks. Before you ask; I prefer them in the lower outer corner.

I did see some similar to JDs from our local Cheap As Chips in Port Pirie but I didn't like the idea of them being screwed into the top of the mirror cover.

Autobarn sells them, around $30 if I remember correctly. Doesn’t need to be screwed on, come with sticky tape and very secure :like

Post by: Biggles on October 12, 2019, 10:36:19 AM: They are about $8 at Super Cheap Auto- and they're making a motza out of them because it's only a silver paint on plastic- would be manufactured for cents. Be very careful cleaning them as any sort of rubbing will take the shine off.

I put mine in the top left (for RH mirror) and top right (for LH one) because that is the area that only shows your hand and the levers. The rest of the mirror is useful, so I leave it as original and now the new mirror makes the whole area effective. On cars the outside edge makes sense because it widens your area of view more than the inside edge would.

But I have difficulty seeing past my pillion to the road behind me, which makes it very hard to see what’s following. Putting them on the outside edge does block some useful area of the main mirror but it gives me a bit more angle to see what’s behind. I’ll get a good chance to try them out next week.

I may or may not have a black eye after that comment...here's hoping she doesn't read my post... :rofl
