25/07/2018 Transferring Registration from WA to SA
« on: July 25, 2018, 02:09:58 PM »
After getting all the required forms on Monday I'm all set for the ride over on Thursday to get it all done.

Being where we are I can take the bike to the local Police station or Port Pirie for the bike ID check. Since I have to pay the money for the rego and get the new plate I may as well go to Pirie for the inspection as well. While over there on Monday I checked to see if I needed an appointment and not needed just turn up anytime between 9am and 5pm and let them know where the two numbers are located on the bike.

Frame number was ok but not easy to see but Compliance plate is easier. I also need month/year but not easy to see with all bits and pieces in there but 04/04 anyway.

For the engine number I had to go looking in the PDF owners manual I found online. Ok found a number (etched in) but not the one so looking further with a torch I found most of the right number: the last three digits not visible.

With a thin stick, a piece of Chux cloth, and some Spray and Wipe ( a little %$#^^ as well) I managed t get the last three numbers at least readable so all good for tomorrow.

The other number beats me. Could a previous owner have etched the HISS key number there? Without knowing the format of the number I have no idea but what I have is 3 Uppercase letters followed by 3 numbers. One of those is an I or a 1 so it could be two letters followed by 4 numbers.

Minor hassle with getting the bike into SA plates.

The officer who did the id check got a few numbers wrong so I had to take it back for correction.

Younger person this time and all fixed up. Told us he'll send the older officer to Specsavers for some new glasses.

Just to make this interesting the colour was silver from the Police check. Not to concerned as the paint code (R-151C-U) on the bike is for Candy Graceful Red.

Great news.   Now the hardest decision you have is which bike to take to the next RTE.

As Heather puts it "Wildfire" is going to the next RTE and until then it's going into Tammies garage.

Maybe not as it looks like a new rear needed as it goes flat within two days.

Might see if I can get some of that ride on sealant if it's ok with the guys who swap the tyres for me.
