A key few points
• It is a commemorative ride to honour Police who have died in the line of duty. It is not to treated lightly. We have current and former Officers among our membership and we don't want to offend them by treating this as a frivolous event.
• It is not an escorted ride from each home state. The only escorted ride is from Sydney to Canberra.
• There is also a $50 fee to participate.
I would suggest you reword the original post Totgas.

I was going to post something similar Gadget.
I have been on an escort, to see them off from Perth. But unless the Police allow /organise the escort it doesnt happen.
-
experience the thrill of a Police M/cycle escort all the way from your home state to Canberra.
This is incorrect, There may be an escort for the riders to a point outside the City, but the participants ride their own bikes in group to Canberra. (besides, Police generally cant cross borders on "duty " except in special circumstances)

A key few points.
• This ride is not 100% open to general public. You have to be invited by a serving Police Officer (possibly former Police Officer).

Not trying to offend anyone or down play the significance of this ride. As a point of clarification, there will be current Motorcycle police attending from just about all states and will form part of the convoy from your State and there is no longer a requirement to "be invited".
I posted this as I believe it is important to acknowledge those fallen and encourage others to participate I'm sorry if others mistook this as a fun weekend ride, that was never my intent.

"As a point of clarification, there will be current Motorcycle police attending from just about all states and will form part of the convoy from your State and there is no longer a requirement to "be invited". "
Unfortunately this statement is not entirely accurate.
(From the official website) Registration is open to the entire policing family - current serving sworn and unsworn, retired police, emergency services officers, as well as friends and family members.
Not all states will be sending their motorcycles.
If you are associated with any of these groups, then please get involved.

This is the odd part; I had no trouble registering and didnt have to prove (or disprove) service or lack of, within any Police force, so what does that say about registration only being open to the police family!
Just for the record, I was a member of the then Commonwealth (now Federal) Police in my early twenties (over 40 years ago), but again, that wasn't asked.

Guys we seem to be bickering over insignificant matters.
The ride is there, it is a worthy cause, if you want to get involved, do so.
Gee, some times.......

Settle down gents.
:well

I think Sean set it out. If you feel like you should go, by all means. I think you will know if you fit it in what is intended as in the spirit of the ride.
-
and at the end of the day it is a fund raiser and a remembrance ride.

The "Wall to Wall" is a great way for like minded motorcyclists to get together and honour the ultimate sacrifice that many have made in the service of their communities.
