StinkyPete's ST11300
« on: June 21, 2018, 08:58:22 PM »
My lovely red ST1300 has been sold to an OzSTOC member.  It's with mixed feelings that I've changed to the Beemer, as I've felt so much at home over the many adventures and the 175,000km that I ridden the ST.  It will be quite sad to see her head out of my driveway for the last time, but she's going to a good home, and will be a regular at OzSTOC events.

The extra bike in their signature gives it away.

The RT won't be at Mackay as we are making a decent holiday of it and are coming by caravan.    :fp

Same bike, different pilot.  Nice ride home, now sitting alongside my ST1100.

My eldest bought himself a new drive this week.  VW Golf GTI supercharged & turbo.  Don't know where he gets it from.  :whistle

If I had to leave the STs for another bike, it would be that Beemer on looks alone, apart from the shaft drive.
Congrats on finding a buyer for the ST, especially "one of our own".
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I was really happy to be able to hand the ST over to Shillas, but it will be quite odd to see it at our RTE's.
In the meantime, here's a photo of my new "office".   :thumb

A couple of questions without notice Pete.
The screen looks much narrower than the ST. Is it as protective as the ST screen?
How is the OEM seat?

Skip,
The screen is a little larger and sits a bit taller in my eyeline than the Bike-Quip screen that I had on my ST1300.   The level of wind and turbulence protection is probably better than the Bike-Quip, and that's and that saying something as the Bike-Quip screen is brilliant.  Even so, I'm toying with the idea of drilling some new holes and dropping it by about 30mm.   It's a Puig screen and they were developed using Wind Tunnel testing.

The OEM seat is just OK for a "normal" 500km day, but for anything longer it gets pretty uncomfortable. I toyed with the idea of a custom sheepskin, but have gone straight to the Gold Standard, and have a Russel Daylong seat on order to complete my farkling.   (is farkling ever finished??)
