Title: SA RTE Ideas for 2023
Post by: StinkyPete on September 12, 2022, 07:06:11 AM
It may be time to start thinking about some locations for 2023, with perhaps a combination of favorite locations from the past, with some new venues thrown in.
Remember that we flagged Cafe de Villi's as a spot for a short notice gathering, so put up a post if you are looking for a coffee and snack on a fine summer evening.

I may remove the "Mid Week Coffee Runs" from being a Sticky, as it's fallen by the wayside, and there's always the option to post if you're at a loose end and looking for a ride.
(Edit) .... or rename the "Mid Week...." thread to "Short Notice RTE's and Coffee Runs"

I'd vote for every one of those Pete. We also should think about some overnighters.
Perhaps Mt Gambier and invite the Mexicans and anyone else from the east willing to travel. Late Spring?
I'd always try my best to get to Eyre Peninsula and I do enjoy the ferry at motorcycle rates, it just takes a bit of planning. Autumn is probably best.
Broken Hill - the Pro Hart gallery is a must see and a pittance for entry. Winter would be fine with the right clothes.

Cheers ... Mark

I nearly forgot - the Flinders ranges - just spectacular.

How about Kulgera as an overnighter.

I'm pretty sure I'd struggle to get SWMBO onto the back of the bike for a 1270km ride only to turn around and repeat it the next day. I'd have to sell it as a Far Road/FarRide exercise for me. Worth considering nonetheless.

If it was done in May you could make a long weekend of it.

I’d be keen on Kulgera or Alice in May.

Would there be any interest in doing Balranald Caravan Park another Tri-State weekend RTE?

I like that idea, but as this would be a multi-day / night event for me, I couldn't commit until I'd be sure that the stars are aligned.

So here is your chance to get in first to nominate a weekend when your stars align?

Won't be my nomination as my plans are determined by a heavenly body who wants to fit in two week to three month trips to TAS, NZ and EUR/UK in 2023.   If I have any time and $$ left over, Balranald will be a pleasant rest.

I agree that we should add Balranald as a Tri-State to the  2023 Ride Calendar.   The gathering's there have been quite successful for everyone except Gadget.   :fp
Someone want to suggest an approprite  weekend?

If People wanted a change, we could try Swan Hill which is a similar distance for people to travel to and shorter for some. There are also a number of attractions to visit for those so inclined.

Good idea!   But wait, decisions will be needed.

Yeah, that'd work.

I was gunna suggest that organising an RTE at Balranald (NSW) would have been an ACT / NSW responsibility, but if it's at Swan Hill (VIC), I suppose that's a VIC responsibility.

Let's take this off-line for now, deal with this, particularly a date, in some PM's or 'phone calls, and then in a separate thread and keep this one tidy for Pete.

At yesterday's SA RTE there was discussion about Kulgera and it had no support from anyone present, so Kulgera may not make the list for 2023.

The Travelling Duck Cafe at Jabuk gets some nice reviews, including a big  ++ from Shiney & Carol, so we might add that to the 2023 list.

:bl11.  Caudo vineyard at Hog wash bend is a nice spot with camping a few steps away.
Bridgewater hotel at Langhornes creek is another suggestion. :eat

I may have a couple of suggestions, been watching the list for what's come up before we set them out.
