Help please.
My 1100 oil was sitting about 1/2 way between the full and minimum in the oil looking glass. I went for a ride on the weekend about 500ks when I go back the oil was down between 1/2 & 1/4. This is the first that I have noticed he oil moving off full. I did a change about 4000k's ago.
Is this normal or should be keeping an eye out for something.
Thanks I appreciate your comments.

Nothing to worry about, the oil was probably in the top of the engine. Check again after the bike has sat for a while.

Thanks Brock. It's been sitting for 24 hours now and down about 5 mm on the glass window from where I started on Saturday.

As long as the oil level is maintained between the upper and lower levels marked on the metal ring around the sight window with the bike on centre stand and then it should be okay.

Hi Bruce, good to hear you are out and about riding, not stuck working.
What color is your spark plugs and exhaust??
PM if you want me to come and have a look, while she's cold.
Cheers
Dave

The oil level in the sight glass is sensitive to the position of the bike. I always check mine on the centre stand in the same spot for consistency, and find there is no variation between leaving the bike for 10 minutes or so after riding, and standing overnight. If I check it in the garage instead, the level reads slightly differently as the level of the floor is slightly different.

I have had to replace the O'ring on the oil sight glass, the old one leaked and was hard, only leaked when on the centre stand and presumably while running.
Interesting, the service manager at the Honda Shop had never sold one previously, even though they are common to most Honda's.
