Hey Biggles,

I just rang Brisbane Honda to get a set of 6GTs fitted at my next service.  They checked and advised that the Road 6 GT does not come in a suitable size, but that the Road 6 is confirmed suitable for the ST1300.  Can you check what you've actually got on Rubina?

That was something I pointed out in an earlier post, Steve... 

If you want to fit the GT variant, you'll have to go for the 180/55R17 which will fit with no problems (apparently) although the diameter is a whisker less than the stock size so speedo will be out a touch more than it already is plus you'll also be pulling a few extra revs...

Do we have a wear report on these? How are they holding up now that mileage is getting higher?

I got 25,000 kays out of a rear, and 26,000 from a front.  That said, some riders might have pulled them both at 24,000.

I'm told I 'need' to replace my tyres by my local dealer. I'm generally not happy with them as an organisation (long and old story but I don't figure easily)..... bit beggars can't be choosers.  Are you happy with the PR6 and will buy again?

Yep- I tried Pirellis once and only got 16,000 so I'm keen on the Pilot 6s.  They dropped the "Road" for the 6th version for some reason.  It's not like they're meant to be 80/20 gravel or something, but that said, I'm confident on "good" gravel (i.e. not badly corrugated, loose or with deep tracks).

Not sure what tyres I have on the STs.  Old ST got new Michelins (probably PR5s) tyres in Adelaide (short diversion from Mannum 2022), may have done 2000km before the "off" in March.  New ST also has PR5s (I think).  Perhaps I better have a good look. 

Been running with PRs (2 to 5) since the CB1300, apart from a few diversions to Avon Storm (very nice on the CB) but none (that I could find) with the load rating required for the ST, and a Dunlop (an unscheduled could buy on the way home from Wooli 2017, couldn't get a Michelin in Bairnsdale). 

As has been discussed elsewhere, best km I've got is around 15,000km from the PRs.  If Bill can only get 16,000km from the Pirellis, best I stay away from them as I reckon I'd get less than 10,000km.  Tyres are far too expensive to be replacing them at that rate.

I'm an advocate for the Michelin brand. I bought my '04 1300 with only 8,000km's on the clock back in 2007. The OEM tyres, Dunlops from memory, were changed out a 8,000 on the front, done as a roadworthy requirement, then I changed the rear out at 10,000 as it was horribly scalloped. It was at this stage that I joined the original Yahoo ST group via one Diesel person. (who was not yet dubbed 'Diesel') Even back then the Michies were highly recommended. I put on a set of RP4's and got about 18,000 out of them. The last set of RP5's prior to selling the ST, I got 28,000 out of a set. Pretty much all solo riding, but the secret was to check tyre pressures regularly and maintain 45-46PSI, not the usual 42 recommended.

Averaging the past 2 years, 28,800km on the ST and 5,300 on the V-Strom = 34,100km.

Unlike Skip, I use 42psi (290kPa) all the time.  If I tried his pressures I might get a decent mileage out of mine too.

I couldn't get Road 6s this time round, so opted for Pirelli Angel GTs.
They were very sloppy at 42psi, so I upped them both to 45 and got the good old STella I'm used to.
Road 6s for me next time.
I still wished PR3s, 4s and 5s were still an option too!

Just had a new PR6 fitted to the rear a couple of weeks ago. The front is a PR5 with quite a bit of tread left on it. I first had the Michelins on my ZRX and was reasonably impressed with them, so decided to stick with them. So far, very happy.
