Does a "merit" connector have merit?

OK, I have power, relay, fuses, etc.... now what type of connector for the accessory should I start with?
"Merit" (
Jaycar range here
) seems seems to be the new standard, higher current, smaller/compact, etc. However, will this result in the need to always use an adaptor (to convert to a regular cigarette lighter-style)? If so, is there any point?
Any thoughts?

I have one of those wired in, but there is no reason that you cant have both types, or an adapter.
It certainly makes a secure connection, and wont come loose due to vibration.

Used these camping for light duty applications with success.....but nothing beats Anderson plugs for simple positive connection, albeit over kill for motorcycling applications.
cheers
