Metzler 880
« on: July 27, 2013, 06:10:29 PM »
Has anyone ever tried a Metzler 880 rear tyre on the 1300, have read some varied reports from the U.S and was just wondering if anyone here had tried?

Yes on the GTR1000 2 up and  trailer 30,000 plus k.....but being a conventional tyre not radial you do feel the extra weight going around and probably not as grippy however i don't ever really test this feature in any tyre.  Just finished 8,000k on my ST1300 2 up and trailer with Pilot 3 on the rear, not impressed but i may have done some damage before i got to an ideal tyre pressure? the soft edge compound scolloped fairly severely. 12,000k throw away i think, The Pilot 2 on the front went really well and will probably go to about 16,000 so happy with that... might try a pilot 2 on the back.

Met a guy from Tassie was towing one of the smaller cub flip over campers 490kg tare, had all their luggage on top with a nice custom fitted tarp and a stainless  steal box on the draw bar with a couple batteries in it with a charger for 240 and a big solar panel on it... originally behind the ST, shudder to think what weight he was pulling and what his drawbar down load was? he got to Ipswitch and parked the ST bought a sec on hand trike, did the rest of the 3 months around Australia, now trying to unload the trike for his money back so he can fly to Ipswitch and ride his ST home.... interestingly he was getting 16,000k front and back out of Pilot 2 running 42 and 48 rear?
