SA RTE (Ride to Eat) Explained - Please read
« on: July 29, 2015, 02:18:05 PM »
Hi SA Members,

As OZSTOC is a very informal place to be, participation in events and RTE are NOT mandatory or required or suggested... If you want to go, then go. If you don't, then don't.

We post them as a means to try and get people involved and give people a place to go. We provide destinations throughout the year and post them up on google maps ( https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=z6QZUoQtqNP0.kaLHAlQuG5P8 ).

We try to get at least one every two months, We try to spread them out across the southern half of the state to give members who are not based in Adelaide a chance to come along, and will occasionally include Overnighters, rather than the days trips . (Such as Broken Hill/Silverton overnighter later this year)

These "official" for want of a better word, rides will continue, with your input of course...like we did last year with people suggesting destinations.

Having said all that.

If you want to go somewhere or have a place to ride to which isn't part of the yearly list...

Then by all means post it up.

Day trip, Mid week trip, overnight trip, run down to shops for some milk trip.

This site is about you, it's about me, it's about every member, we're all equal on here.

We are here if you need help with formatting of site stuff etc, and if you do, please send either of us a message and we'll get to it asap.

Thanks

Alan's been asked to be a second SA Coordinator to assist with SA RTE's and events.  :hatwave  He's a great technical resource, a valuable addition to Team SA, and has already jumped in with this thread, encouraging anyone who has an idea, to post and organize an RTE.  Great idea!

We'll continue to set SA RTE's every two months, with a couple of overnighters tossed in each year.

:blk13 Hi Alan,  just a quick question on the rides,  do you meet beforehand then ride to the location, or just all meet up at the RTE location?

Usually meet there.  There are no set rules.  Some meet beforehand but generally as we come from all over the state we meet at the venue.

Hi Chris,

As Bodo mentioned but also because the group is nation wide it was decided in the early days to organise regular rides in each state by members living in the state.

Since members are located in various locations throughout their respective states it made more sense to use the venue as the meeting point and most of us do ride our own ride to the venue. Some who do live close to each other (e.g. Adelaide suburbs) do chose to arrange a meeting point and ride as group.

Hopefully that covers it.

That's similar to what's done in VIC, and other States (I presume).   A week or two before each VIC RTE, I generally post a couple of suggested times and meet-up points en route to the RTE desination.   Sometimes we have met-up and travelled with one or two others, sometimes solo.  It's whatever fits with or suits others on a case-by-case basis.   I
