TJ, I stand corrected.

I am so focussed on achieving a Mile Eater GOLD award before my toes point to Heaven that I think of all my IBA rides as being Gold level or not.

For those who do not know what I'm talking about, here is an extract from the IBA web site.

"GOLD status is earned by completing at least TWENTY certified rides, of which FIVE must be GOLD or INSANITY level or greater than 48 hours in duration without a time limitation (you can earn GOLD status over several years)."

But wait, there's more. Just as I accumulate sufficient GOLD level rides the IBA creates even more challenging awards. The next level is Platinum.

"PLATINUM status is earned by completing at least FORTY certified rides, of which TEN must be GOLD or INSANITY level or greater than 48 hours in duration without a time limitation (you can earn PLATINUM status over several years)."

Additional levels are at: http://www.ironbutt.com/mileeater/

It is so enjoyable watching you do this Lionel  :thumbsup  keep on keeping on

Don't look now, but there's Titanium, Diamond and BLACK level...       >:()

They ran out of words when they got past Diamond, obviously!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

The Centreline 36 is a great achievement if you can crack it Alan.  Those extra ks over a BB2500K/36 encourage efficiency in stops etc but still allow a touch of time to take a few pics here and there.  Having said that my first go (D-PA) failed because I stopped for dinner and a couple of quiet ones with ColdComfort in Alice Springs and slept in. My second (PA-D) was aborted because I forgot to get a docket as I rode through PA to turn north.  >:()  I'll get it right one day, I'm a bit more disciplined now.

Great to see you considering the Centreline 36 Alan  and this just the reason it was established, so that those that felt is may be just out of the grip to do the Centreline 24.  Who knows, after you do the Centreline 36 you may feel that it is doable in the 24  ++

I wasn't considering doing it but for me it would be more feasible than the 24 hour one.

Before I'd even think of attempting something like this I'd need do a couple more casual longer on my own rides like from home to Perth.

TJ sowed a seed for me earlier in the year with the higher milage 36 hour and 48 hour rides rides.

I had done a couple of 2500/36 by that stage and saw the advantages given current roo numbers and my tolerable risk level.
These longer hours require longer distance but give greater scope in the planning.

Just find out this week that my FarRide to Kookynie had now been certified. Emailed all the info with their new email lodging system less than 1 month ago. Very quick and so very very proud :-)
